Tutorial: Pool Shape Tutorials
« on: August 12, 2011, 01:59:05 PM »
Hello Everyone and Welcome to my Tutorial on how to make a cool pool in the sims 3 ;D enjoy
"So since LN patch came out and brought the curved pool tool, many people have been wandering how to use it, I don't blame them it isn't as obvious as it seems, here are some tutorials on how to make a cool pool shape and to decorate them
1. Know your tools !
Beside of the regular pool shape, you will have a Concave   and a Convex pool tools knowing how to choose the size and placements is critical with thees,
*First you must always leave 1 square between  any of the last two, don't worry about any "Gapes" they can be filled with the square pool and go unnoticed ;),
*Don't place your pool too close to the edge of the lot
*If you get, the "can't expend pool" message when you are placing your pool on a correct location, try turning on "ConstrainFloorElevation false" without quations marks it should work
*To rotate a pool you can use < or > on a "QWERTY" keyboard or "," and ";" on an "AZERTY" keyboard
More detail on each in the tutorials below,
2.Classical Round Edges pool:
You need to know that you must put Sliders on the same number or else you won't be able to rotate the shap as you want to, beside that the following tutorial should be clear enof

3.The Convex tool
The convex tool is great when it comes to making a cool shape, you can soften the edges with it, or simply make classic circular pool, It's use is much better in traditional style houses, even if it can be used with modern style, here is a simple tutorial of a pool made using convex tool,

4.Concave pool
Ah the concave pool, It's use is less obvious then the convex pool , but with it you can make some exellant modern shaped pools the key in understanding it is know how to rotate and place it, the curved part must always be outside, it is Exellant with edges, and combined with the convex pool, will make some crazy shapes, placing them facing each other, or next to each other forming  an arc is usally good enof to get things started, a little thing to get you started  below

5.Extra shapes for inspiration
Thees are only two, if you want I can add more I can keep doing it all day long ;)

6.Decorating your pool
Ah just making a pool shape intresting, doesn't make it good looking ;) unless you are making a gym, your pool must feel warm, and welcoming it is usally a nice partying area, a place for love birds, or a small children paradise so decorate it that way, you can edit the walls and flooring same as any room, so placing some nice tiles and wallpaper is appreciated, however you can edit the current ones with Create A Style, wich is how I choose to do it, Also adding that little drawing, and change the lights colors to make it cooler, this is how some of the earlier pools look like when decorated ;)

Conclusion
Thank you for reading, I will be pleased to answer any questions and requests, if I helped, or if you need more of it please leave a comment to keep the topic alive, feel free to share any pools you make,to give others inspiration an Ideas, sorry for the watermarks on Images, I hope you undersand That I'm trying to protect my work here

Kiko, this is fantastic! You should totally make another pool center! I'd so download that. ;D
Well, that's your opinion, isn't it? And I'm not about to waste my time trying to change it. - Lady GaGa

You need to know that you must put Sliders on the same number or else you won't be able to rotate the shape as you want to

I've been messing around a little with the new pools and noticed if you 2 numbers are different , say the top slider is 4 and the bottom is 2, to get it to flip to match you just have to reverse the 2 sliders. Set the top one to 2 and the bottom one to 4 and you can then rotate it to match the one you just put down making a oval pool instead of round.
A clear conscience is usually a sign of a bad memory.

Awesome!  Thanks, Kiko, for the great tutorial.  I've tried to make a heart-shaped pool and couldn't quite figure it out. I'm definitely going to have to play around with the pool tools now.  :D

Your heart-shaped pool reminded me of how I made a heart-shaped cake once for Valentine's Day.  Thanks for the memories and for sharing your great tips and tutorial!
