When your Sim dies by a fire caused by the jelly bean plant and the entire family is mourning, except for their witch sister, who decides to play with magic rather than cry over her dying sister's fiery ghost ???. Yes, that's happened to me before

When I make someone's casual outfit, and then I move on to the formal outfit and it's automatically the exact same thing  :o

If your selected outfit for everyday is also available in formal, then the system shows that same outfit.  But if the clothes are not also in formal, then the computer selects something else and you have to update it.

It ticks me off that it all takes so looooooooooong to load the Create a Household from the dresser, mirror or Salon, so I try to only ever dress them once!

Mermaids are my latest irritation, not the ones in Isla Paradiso mind you that's fine, it's all the ones in Riverview. Story progression keeps creating them but they don't stay like it for long because guess what, no ocean  ::) so they revert back but have level 10 diving skill and often have a trait changed to evil as well, it's the trait change that bugs me most, watching a good guy like Jebediah Wilson do an evil laugh is just plain bizarre.

Personally I love evil sims but I don't want it changing my townies personalities about just to give them scales for a couple of days. Three weeks in my current game and already I've seen six different sims as mermaids so far, it's just ridiculous.

The fact that mermaid cannot be turned off annoys me, you can turn off Vamps fairys and wolves but not mermaids?

A small portion of my rant has to do with user error, but it still fits best in this thread so...

Today was the first time in a while that I played the game, and it's also the first time since installing all EPs except Seasons. Initially I wanted 3 people, with two of them made using the genetics of existing sims, but it crashed every time I tried to pick an outfit. Okay, fine, I'll just use my simself and make her a water-loving genie, and I like her outfits so no need to mess with perfection...well, upon choosing the genie option, it changed all my outfits. While I like the genie outfit, it doesn't really suit her/me, and she has it for everyday and sleepwear. Also, it's mostly yellow. Oh well, whatever. As long as she doesn't end up with some hideous formal dress it's all good. :P

Once I finally got the thing up and running, progress went swimmingly, so to speak. She met Triton King and Salty Seaworth, had attractions to both of them. After randomly being forced out of the water after opening a treasure chest (guess I'll leave that last for next time, sheesh), I decided to have her signal Salty Seaworth. Salty showed up, and I happily discovered that I could enscorcel him if I wanted to...mwahahaha. So he's a Gold Digger - nothing a little LTR can't fix should things go as planned. He can keep his traits. By the time he was no longer under my control, they were finding each other irresistible, so I sent them on a date to the Paradise Pub (or something - the place with the sleep slave bed on the top floor).

Here's where user-error comes in: by the time they got to the lot, my simself was low on energy. I wasn't planning to use cheats and generally prefer not to, but I wanted this date to go reaaaaaaallllly well, so in order to increase her energy, I proceeded to hit the 3-key-combo that I use the most often...command, option, escape. I have a MacBook. On the bright side, I saved right before they headed over to the pub. I'll take this as a sign that it's bedtime.  ::)

Oh I just had the most infuriating thing happen, my sim has level 10 in martial arts/athletics.

There was a person who was outsides (zombie) destroying their property, the sunflowers. Thankfully the garden is locked, but it really ticked me off that they were just destroying property, so I went to wake my Sim up as the peashooter got to the zombie... and unfortunately, instead of dealing out a good butt-kicking to this angering sim... my Sim took TWO WHOLE FREAKING HOURS TO GET OUT OF BED.
Two.
Whole.
Hours.

This happens when someone is robbing them without an alarm as well, I mean, COME ON. *Steams off in frustration*
Oh and to add icing on the cake my Sim also decided he wanted to make the bed too instead of going after the property destroyer.
By the time my Sim was actually standing and making the bed the zombie was pulling off in his super expensive car. Frustrations!

Other annoying thing - the martial arts tournament. Why in the world is my level 10, practically supermaxed sim getting his butt kicked by someone who's level 5? He lost to her 5 times in a row, even with the best mood, practice and environment possible.

Sims, sometimes I love them, sometimes I want to strangle them against a wall.

The fact that when you send a sim to "Report In" to a person for an opportunity, you have to keep an eye on them because they never seem able to just do it themselves!

'like this'
My detective sim always gone AWOL whenever they make the report to requester or talk to witness.
Problem is I have a lot of sim in my household so I can't always keep an eye on the detective one.

Clothes and hairdos

1) It takes forever to load.
2) Not being able to delete old looking clothes that I never pick or dress my Sims with.
3) Then after you made you choice of clothing, you must first have your Sims put on their clothes and send him to a mirror if you want a different hairdo.
4) That you can keep only 3 outfits. With Seasons we should have a minimum of 4 outfits. One outfit for summer, spring, fall and winter.

I wish
1) To be able to choose a top or a bottom or shoe or whatever and hairdo all in one shot and me deciding to make it casual or sleepwear or outerwear or whatever.
2) I had a "wardrobe" with all sort of outfits. All you had to do is click on it and voila your Sims is dress for the day.

The makeover station that came with Ambitions made it easier to plan outfits for Sims. It lets you choose hair, make-up, and clothing all in one go.

The makeover station also extends life, so be careful not to use it if you are doing dynasty challenges.

The song and dance routine for the Swift-gro Plant Station thingy!  My Sims would do the clap hands / happy dance / yahoo! after almost every second plant planted.  Plant two fruits - yahoo - plant 2 more - yahoo!  Honestly once would be quaint, after the 10th yahoo you just want to strangle the sim!  I've taken to not placing the station until after they have planted the seeds otherwise they'd be elders by the time they've planted the 19 plants!  But if your sim replants the ones that die off aaaaahhhh!   Not impressed!   >:(

I'm pretty sure that there's a dresser-mirror combo from Supernatural that doesn't extend your life-span, so if you could use that for Dynasties and whatnot.

I think they were implying that if they wanted a separate hair for Formal dress/everyday/athletic they had to change their Sim's clothing to that outfit to change the hairstyle instead of all in one go.
