@Nebuchadnezzar, did you play sims 2?  My memory is failing me but there was a secret, invitation only venue for sims who were interested in culture or literature or something and there was an interaction where one sim would sit on the floor and listen while the other would hold forth.  It was adoreable. There was a similar invite only venue for chefs and so on.

I don't like how for the sims 3 pets for PS3 there are only two designs for long hair.  I wanted a long hair with a braid or long hair and a pony tail.  I wish it was categorized like you click on long hair then you get like 10 designs with long hair.

I have played The Sims 2, with all of the expansion and stuff packs, but never have I experienced such a foray. I was planning on... obtaining the complete The Sims 2 collection once I get my new computer, so I shall try and venture into more profound philosophical hunts.

@Nebuchadnezzar,  it was an option with Free Time, I think.  Will look it up.

  • Lack of decent music (I know I can add my own, but it would be nice to hear some of my favorites in Simlish...).
  • The only electric musical instrument is the guitar.
  • Not being able to choose your books' designs.
  • Not being able to discuss profound philosophical questions with other Sims while sipping nectar in front of the fire place.
  • Lack of decent hair, both facial and upper, for male Sims.
  • The not-so-rare display of utter stupidity on part of most Sims.

Late Night added drums, piano, and bass.  Guitar isn't the only instrument anymore.

Well, the other three instruments are acoustic, and he specified electric. Though the lack of amplifiers to most of the guitars counts them out too.

However, the cheap Late Night piano is implied to be electric, due to it being a keyboard.

Thanks.  I missed the electric part.  Although, I can't think of instruments that are electric besides the guitar that could even be put in the game.

Bass.

I'm upset that there's no brass instruments though, in addition to the lack of a bass.

Thanks.  I missed the electric part.  Although, I can't think of instruments that are electric besides the guitar that could even be put in the game.

They could easily add an electric bass; a string bass and regular bass are not very different and a shift between them is all about getting used to it, and there actually is an electric string bass. There are also electronic drums, which are slightly different than acoustic drums, but they fit perfectly for the Sims; you simply add an amplifier at live gigs, and that's it, really. My point was that the electric guitar doesn't sound right with all the acoustic instruments while jamming, so I'm forced to use an acoustic guitar.

There isn't really much to do with the keyboard since you can't make different sounds with it, and musicians that use electric instruments can use either pianos, as the sounds aren't completely apart.

Which brings me to another part that I haven't though about - lack of pedals for the guitar. But that's just too much micromanagement... even though they could just edit the window (like when you're working, you can choose your method of working), and based on the pedals in the room or whatever. So yea,  it can work as well. The music in the Sims is too undeveloped, really.

There is, but it's only a stringed one. I can see why they did a stringed instead of a regular, since it would look more or less like a guitar (the animation would have to different though). And yes, I'd like some more brass instruments myself.

I think a marimba or xylophone would be kind of cool, too. I play those in real life, and they had it for The Sims 2 Castaway for Wii, and it was pretty awesome. Along with the brass, because I agree that the brass would add some variety. Imagine, a little concert band of teen Sims from the school. Or even a violin so there could be an orchestra, too. I just think it would be rather cute watching them play.

And I can use those to bring on the Funk to my Sims!

Anyone else annoyed that there aren't more clothing options for elders? I don't understand why ALL the clothing available to adults isn't available for elders too.

Also annoying is the fact sims tend to walk around town in their work clothes. Sure, it's amusing, but do they really have to go to the park in their chef uniforms?

Oh here's one I hate. Sims won't bathe on the public lots if another sims is using one of  the shower cubicle things...and they also won't even go into the bathrooms most of the time because of that.  If a sim is extremely shy then I could see, but otherwise it is just ridiculous. There's no point in having more than one shower in a gym because only one sim will go in the bathroom at a time.

@Nebuchadnezzar I'm afraid the music in the sims franchise is a lowest common denominator thing.  I'm still not entirely impressed with the options that Late Night and Show Time give, but, when you consider the game as a whole, I can't complain.

@Fluffy Puff, I fins the old lady underwear pretty much insulting.  Its a bit age-ist!

@Wiry, I have a feeling any sims you make will be well funky to begin with!
