Hi, thought I'd use my first post here to share my frustration with a couple things, one of which I am so glad I am not the only one having! Though all oddly occuring to the same family.
I've had much worse experience with babysitters. One randomly generated one in Twinbrook just stood outside the front door. I had to send the parents home so their baby wouldn't starve.
It was Lucky Palms for me, and annoyingly more than one babysitter, but like yourself, the babysitter did nothing but stand outside the front door. While it was annoying at the time, with a single parent having to leave the baby/toddler behind to work only to find the babysitter wouldn't go anywhere near the thing, I did quite like to imagine that the local teenagers thought the poor child to be posessed, and too afraid to do anything other than peek through windows to make sure it was still there.
The second one, another popular choice, the Butler.
I have to admit, the actual butler(s) were great. Cleaned and repaired everything, but didn't cook, which I was happy with, seeing as my family's founder was a chef, and practically behind the stove all the time anyway. The annoying part, was I think they lasted no longer than a week and a half each, before they mysteriously left and stopped working for me. I must have gone through five of them before I gave up on butlers and relegated one of my adult sims to stay at home all day.
The third one, papparazzi/hecklers.
I've combined these both, because as I discovered, the papparazzi that were stalking my celebs would eventally go off duty in the dead of night, and decide it would be a fantastic idea to run up to the walls of the house and heckle the sleeping sims inside, before running off to go home themselves. Fencing eventually solved this, but for a starting family with little spare cash, I had to put up with sour moods before work/school for a while.
Fourth and final annoyance for me with this family, zombies.
The constantly spawning zombie bug struck me after I built the walls, but all day and all night I had to put up with the sounds of frustrated zombies unable to get into my house to attack, and sims inside breaking queues to notice a zombie attack that couldn't actually happen. I'd delete them when I could, but they would keep coming. At least to provide some amusement, a couple of them were zombie vampires, so I got to start a nice collection of tombstones on the small strip of land at the front of my lot outside the fences. I got up to about three before the ghosts started becoming annoying and shipped them off to the graveyard.
