Before they change into maternity clothes, plan one of their outfits to include clothes that are maternity compatible. They'll just change into that outfit for the pregnancy.

I'm too lazy to do such a thing, though.

Unfortunately, it isn't enough to have a maternity wardrobe as your backup outfit, if it isn't your #1 selection you'll get a random ugly outfit and you won't be able to change it.

How do you know which outfits are maternity compatible?

I got the godawful blue/pink bridesmaid dress with the huge bow on the front once, and I wanted to stab myself in the eyes since she didn't even look pregnant, just looked like she was trying to balance a brick on her head.

Finding out the maternity outfits is trial and error, basically. There are a good many threads in the Swap Shop under "Clothing" that you can look at to see some outfits that are guaranteed compatible. :)
Check out my new story here!

A good place to start: Anything from Generations should be maternity-compatible (that was one of the cries of joy you heard from the simming community when that EP was released....)

Not everything in Generations is maternity compatible.

There's a thread here which shows all of the outfits from the base game and EPs up to Showtime that are maternity friendly.

It annoys me how little of it there is really. Especially considering I play long generational games and so lots of babies and I get fed up of the same top over again. That and the lack of toddler clothing and hair.

What drives me nuts is that so many of the clothes you would think would be in the formal wardrobe, aren't.  There's even a suit in boy's clothes that is everyday only, not formal.  They can wear t-shirts and jeans to a wedding, but not a basic suit?

New irritation that came with Supernatural:

My male head of household is a witch.  He's married and has a great relationship with his wife.  UNTIL HE GOES AND CASTS A STUPID LOVE CHARM ON HIMSELF.

This causes him to kiss the next person he talks to, turning  them into a romantic interest.  UGGGGGGGHHHH.

This has always annoyed me, Toddlers didn't get anything new until Generations and even then they only got a spring ride, pram and a few clothing and hairstyles. They haven't had anything new since Generations either. I really wish EA would release more clothing/hairstyle and toy options for Toddlers more often, I feel they really get ignored a lot.  :(

The lack of decent wedding dresses annoys me too, I will have to get some from the store.

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings but the wedding dresses in the store are fairly average at best.  Or at least I thinks so.  I bought the set but use only one dress from it.

Does anyone know how to throw the bridal bouquet because I can't get the object to do anything except be a table centrepiece! ::)

Is it throwable? I never knew it was throwable. I have it, but it only works as a table decoration as well. :(

Hi, thought I'd use my first post here to share my frustration with a couple things, one of which I am so glad I am not the only one having! Though all oddly occuring to the same family.

I've had much worse experience with babysitters. One randomly generated one in Twinbrook just stood outside the front door. I had to send the parents home so their baby wouldn't starve.

It was Lucky Palms for me, and annoyingly more than one babysitter, but like yourself, the babysitter did nothing but stand outside the front door. While it was annoying at the time, with a single parent having to leave the baby/toddler behind to work only to find the babysitter wouldn't go anywhere near the thing, I did quite like to imagine that the local teenagers thought the poor child to be posessed, and too afraid to do anything other than peek through windows to make sure it was still there.

The second one, another popular choice, the Butler.
I have to admit, the actual butler(s) were great. Cleaned and repaired everything, but didn't cook, which I was happy with, seeing as my family's founder was a chef, and practically behind the stove all the time anyway. The annoying part, was I think they lasted no longer than a week and a half each, before they mysteriously left and stopped working for me. I must have gone through five of them before I gave up on butlers and relegated one of my adult sims to stay at home all day.

The third one, papparazzi/hecklers.
I've combined these both, because as I discovered, the papparazzi that were stalking my celebs would eventally go off duty in the dead of night, and decide it would be a fantastic idea to run up to the walls of the house and heckle the sleeping sims inside, before running off to go home themselves. Fencing eventually solved this, but for a starting family with little spare cash, I had to put up with sour moods before work/school for a while.

Fourth and final annoyance for me with this family, zombies.
The constantly spawning zombie bug struck me after I built the walls, but all day and all night I had to put up with the sounds of frustrated zombies unable to get into my house to attack, and sims inside breaking queues to notice a zombie attack that couldn't actually happen. I'd delete them when I could, but they would keep coming. At least to provide some amusement, a couple of them were zombie vampires, so I got to start a nice collection of tombstones on the small strip of land at the front of my lot outside the fences. I got up to about three before the ghosts started becoming annoying and shipped them off to the graveyard.

So I recently installed Showtime, and headed straight to CAS. To my amazement, elder males got some new clothes, including one item that I'm shocked EA didn't have in the base game for them: a longer t-shirt.

Yet, they all have non-recolorable designs on them. Why? I just wanted a plain, long t-shirt for my old folks. :(

Remember how I complained about how the game generates sims without any variation to their face? I looked at some of the wild horses that appeared in an unmodded file of mine, and they actually have differences in features (not just coat; different shaped muzzles and ears and the like). Same for dogs and cats. They have no excuse for the same-face syndrome in sims.

I positively despise the generic sims. I'm honestly getting some on the second generation of my legacy, that was quick! :(

When I'm playing the game, I hit a creativity block. When I don't have access to the game, creativity flows like magic. It's like that with writing novels and creating games, too.
“When life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back!” - Cave Johnson, Portal 2
“You ought to upgrade to Windows 7!”, they said. “It’ll help your games run so much better!”, they said. If I see them again, then they had better know how to stabilize an on-the-fritz copy of The Sims 3 that was working just fine on Windows XP.

  • Lack of decent music (I know I can add my own, but it would be nice to hear some of my favorites in Simlish...).
  • The only electric musical instrument is the guitar.
  • Not being able to choose your books' designs.
  • Not being able to discuss profound philosophical questions with other Sims while sipping nectar in front of the fire place.
  • Lack of decent hair, both facial and upper, for male Sims.
  • The not-so-rare display of utter stupidity on part of most Sims.
