I hate how sims don't progress in their careers with story progression or have poor performance.

I had my current sim visit a household I used to play. This sim was in the daycare career. There were two toddlers on the floor, crying. I thought she and her husband had kids (even though they were both elders), when I moused over them, it read "[Toddler] is terribly moody!" Did I mention this was late at night? So somehow, my previous household is apparently stuck with two daycare toddlers.
The outside is quiet, but the inside is on full blast.

To keep it concise, if an open world is the biggest draw of a game, make things happen outside the active household. Like pregnancies. And marriages. Think harder about how that might affect long-term play in a town like Twinbrook, which has a disproportionate amount of elders and near-elders.

Ah, okay, it's not just me. I usually play in Riverview which has a large number of elders by design, but I've noticed this same issue in other worlds too. Other than the pregnant ladies, none of the townies ever seem to make more children in my games. I get a few who move in together and sometimes marry (or not - sometimes they just become roommates for absolutely no reason whatsoever), and I do get entire families moving in, but actual procreation while living in the town just doesn't happen for me.

EA Story Progression did reproduce some townies for me, but since I switched to NRAAS's Story prog., The school is the buildign most full during the day  ;D

My new issue is the lack of space for very large lots (I spent almost an hour trying to place the Ultimate Venue in Starlight Shores, then gave up.

I agree with this one! I tried putting the KPST lots and they were too big for the small lots! That was a huge disappointment!

@TheTripWasInfraGreen: Not to get too off topic, but I absloutly agree with your signature.  :D

In my game, story progression lets sims marry, have children, move out of town etc. I always let my sims read the newspaper because I can know what's happening in the town and childbirths happen every two days or so. I don't use mods that affect SP.

Story progression only shows itself by townies aging up. In the 2 years I've been playing, I've only seen one townie marriage. It also bothers me that pre-made sims that are engaged, (like Hank Goddard or Pauline Wan) stay engaged throughout their entire lives.

In my game, story progression always kicks out the very sims who I want to stay in the town, then I end up with some random, generic family which occupies their house   >:(

I absolutely hate burglars! My legacy family has been burglarized so many times that it's ridiculous! Not even a security fence keeps them out.

Buy a burglar alarm, that will declassify them as annoying, since it will wake your sims up. Unless they have the heavy sleeper trait.

Interesting. I've noticed that with vanilla SP, some towns fare better than others. Union Cove actually produced some pregnancies while I was playing it, while Twinbrook will quickly die out. It's still kind of sad that it isn't universal.

And that's exactly why I immediately got sick of Sunset Valley so quickly. It's like the same SP occorances happen over and over again. Fiona McIrish always reads a book when Sims go into labor, and are sent to the hospital, Stiles stands there, and always dates Emma. Madison is always heavily pregnant. Riverview and AP, have more interesting, diverse occurrences, aside from Constance Shelley always being heavily pregnant, and Imogen Pelly always moving away, and continuing to abuse her poodle (she's Jared as a female). But with Nraas industries, I can control so Imogen doesn't move away.

I've seen Stiles get with Tamara Donner, I broke them up so he could get with Agnes(my Agnes, not the original)

That's the problem. They don't get a good night's sleep. If you have a big family, it takes a long time to get them all back to bed.

Before everyone gets to sleep, fence the house, delete all gates, then when it's in the morning, make a gate.

Doesn't installing the burglar alarm just reduce chances of having a burglar altogether? Ever since I put it there, I never had a burglar again.
