It's not a matter of animals looking "perfect", but realistic and healthy. If proportions are out of whack or an animal looks broken down or starved, it definitely diminishes my enjoyment of the game because of my own Animal Lover trait. :P And it's not only the randomly generated animals, some breeds are just off from the get-go. The Border Collie's head is wrong, the German Shepherd and some others have noticeably oversized heads that their bodies couldn't support, and the Australian Shepherd overall doesn't look like the real Aussies I've seen.

We do get quite a few options and sliders, so it's to be expected that sometimes the RNG will create an animal that looks wonky. The premades, though, be it breeds in CAS or pets and strays placed in a world, could have done with more attention to proper proportions and anatomy.

My sim married a sim that had a game generated dog. Or at least it was supposed to be a dog. I honestly couldn't tell. Took the dog to CAS and changed it's breed and then it looked normal.

As for butlers, I too have noticed mine not doing much. Except cooking food, eating it, and not cleaning up his dishes afterwards. Oddly enough, my babysitter was great. But I probably won't call for maids or butlers anytime soon.

Monsters, Mobsters and Monsters!

The risk of becoming a Vampire in Sims 1 put me off that game.  Becoming a Plant Sim in Sims 2 annoyed me, but at least it was easily cured.  In Sims 3 I will not buy Night Life (or whatever it is called) because of the vampires even though I would love to have the grand piano.   I will not buy any other EP's which include "monsters".  I do not make a creature robot either, or bother with the associated reward.  I would love to see a return of that useful Sim 1 robotic appliance, you know the expensive but useful thing which you switched on as you left for work or went to bed and it cleaned the entire house and watered the garden before returning to its pod.

I believe there's a mod that disables Vampires.
Also, something that annoys me is when a guest sets  booby trap. I want MY sims to booby trap that!

I'd watch the language. Better edit your post before a mod does it for you.

I think the most annoying thing that EA has included in Sims is the WA songs. I always feel so bad for those poor Sims. I've literally prepared myself for that annoying Singing and now I can't find the mod for it! The Karaoke has always been funny in TS2 and TS3, but WA Singing gets really annoying. I hope there's no real benefits for learning a song, because none of my Sims had learn a song in ages. Because those songs are annoying. And I finally get WA, and the "Stop that annoying singing!" mod disappears on me.  :(

I wish they would put a 60x60 lot in the World Editor.

"The most frequent meteor target in my games has been Sunset Valley "

Please correct me if I am wrong, perhaps I'm just unlucky, but I don't think the meteor hits are entirely random.

I usually start my sim on a "beautiful view" lot so don't have much money for building.  Although I have been hit in random locations, such as outside the thieve's den, nearly every hit has been while sleeping in a tent,  it lands straight on that tent every time.  It has even taken out several of those pagoda tents you buy from the Special Merchants in World Adventures.  My house has never been hit although my "slept like a queen/king" tent has been hit several times, always with the sim(s) inside, when placed on the patio/deck.  I've been hit in all three vacation locations, but only on my vacation home lot.

To summerize, I think you have more chance of being hit in a tent, or while sleeping outside,  on your home lot than at any other time.

If I can't afford to build straight away now, I cheat a little using buydebug to plant a deathflower, for each sim in my family, on my lot which my sim(s) harvest(s) immediately at least then, I may lose all my worldly goods, but not my sim(s).  And, although I love the boost from the "slept like a queen/king" modlet I make my sim(s) sleep inside whenever possible.

I believe Jeana is referring to the use of profanity, and having a moderator edit the post.

Edit: I should probably point out I didn't see the use of profanity, so I can only assume.

To summerize, I think you have more chance of being hit in a tent, or while sleeping outside,  on your home lot than at any other time.

I looked at the Meteor's XML file. This is what I dug up about the chance (there is also a heap of other information, such as how big the range is).

Code: [Select]
    <kRandomMeteorIntervalTime value="60">
      <!--Time, in minutes, to wait before rolling to see if we randomly spawn a meteor.-->
    </kRandomMeteorIntervalTime>
    <kRandomMeteorChance value="0.0001">
      <!--Percent chance (between 0 and 1) of the sim triggering a meteor to fall at his or her position while outside.-->
    </kRandomMeteorChance>
    <kRandomMeteorChanceUsingTelescope value="0.001">
      <!--Percent chance (between 0 and 1) of the sim triggering a meteor to fall at his or her position while using a telescope outside.-->
    </kRandomMeteorChanceUsingTelescope>

So there's a 0.0001% chance that it'll happen when the Sim is outside, and a 0.001% chance that it'll happen when a Sim is using a telescope outside. And the game will see every hour whether it should spawn a meteor.

So the lesson here kids, is to never use a telescope outside, because you're ten times as likely to be hit by a large piece of rock while using one, than you are just standing there aimlessly.

Thanks for that Seabody.

I guess I was partially correct.  If the sim sleeps outide, thats approximately 8 sim hours per night so a 1 in 12,500 chance of being hit each night while sleeping in a tent.  I've actually been hit on two consecutive nights and the same sim has been hit 3 times while still a young adult.  Could it be down to the nature of the random number generator?  I'm years out of date on computer programming now, but generating random numbers always, in my day,  started with the same base so that the number generated was not truely random.  I wonder if this is why some players have never seen a meteor while others have seen the same sim hit more than once.

The book, Where's Bella annoys me just because all my Sims (even the non bookworms) try to read it whenever I leave them alone for two seconds. XD Yeah, I know I can turn off autonomy, but then my games get really boring. So a lot of my Sims end up carrying that book around.

Also, when Sims outside of my household do the angry I'm hungry/tired yelling at the sky. It's like "can't help you, dude. Stop yelling." It's the small random things that bug me lol

I know practically nothing about computers; but, I had one sim who was randomly attacked by meteors 3 times in one game (in China all at the base camp got fried); she returned home and 3 people at her place of work were fried), The next day, she's getting in her car to go to work and I see the pop-up "why is everything dark". Had her jump in her 10 speed and drive! Her house was toast!

I've only seen meteors one time, it was when I first got Hidden Springs and was super excited to start playing there. I made one family, they just moved in and a Meteor hit - all died.  So I tried moving the family in on another lot, same result. I made a new Sim and moved in on yet another lot, meteor hit after 5 minutes. I quit the game and started over, same thing again. I decided Hidden Springs was to dangerous and loaded my family in Sunset Valley - meteor hit again! I quit the game. Next time I played nothing like that happened. And I haven't seen a meteor since. It was really frustrating at the time though.
