I've stopped sending my Sims to the hospital to have the baby.  She has it at home and has a closer relationship with the new baby.

ooh, I didn't know that Pam :) Thanks for the tip! I don't normally take my sims to hospital because generally by the time they get to having babies I have enough mood bonuses to keep her mood elated at home. I don't know if there's a difference in how long it takes, but it seems to me that it takes longer at the hospital anyway.

I still go with the Hospital! It seems much safer than at home.

You know what really annoys me is all the pregnant Sims restrictions. I know this is suppose to simulate real life, but the unrealistic restrictions are ridiculous. Pregnant women in the real world are allowed to use the treadmill and hot tub. Maternity leave is too long too. Since when were Imogen Pelly and Claire Ursine high risk?  ???

Yes, in real life pregnant ladies can use a hot tub (there is nothing physically preventing them from getting into one), if they want to chance the very high risk of birth defects that may be caused by being immersed in hot water. Check the next time you're near a public hot tub, there are signs up warning pregnant ladies against using the hot tub for this very reason.

It does seem a little silly that they essentially can't work from the end of the first trimester (which is where I am now :D). I suppose if they wanted to get really restrictive though they would stop them from eating the cheese platter, and sushi and from drinking nectar (I'm not certain on the nectar). Or they could go REALLY all out, and stop them from hanging clothes on the line (anything that involves raising your arms above your head - it's an old wives tale) and silly stuff like that. Maternity leave doesn't bother me - I know many women who have taken extra leave until their kids are nearly ready for school even. As a mum in real life, you just can't get that time back when they are little, so it's best to enjoy every moment you can possibly get with them! They might have had something like that in mind when they set the time for maternity leave.

I agree. They have way too many in game restrictions, yet they can still eat sushi and drink nectar. I think they figure, they don't want to get too over the top with the Pregnant Sims restrictions. In Sims 2, Brandi Broke could still use the hot tub!

In my opinion there are not many restrictions for Pregnant Sims. I don't have a problem with it but of course it's a bit irritating that you can't use the Treadmill but that's because this is a Life Simulator and it has references to real life. Pregnant Women are not likely to run about on a treadmill or get into a hot tub. Besides in a wet area surely there is a high risk of slipping on the wet floor? Besides it's not like pregnancy in Sims lasts for 40 Weeks or however long it.

I would love to see pregnancy last longer (or shorter) as you alter the lifespan.  It takes 3 days to have a baby, but your baby doesn't leave its swaddling blanket for 25 days?  It would be nice if it were, say, 15 days for epic?

I found something that annoys me in World Adventures! The songs they learn on vacation! It's not the songs themselves that's annoying, it's the Sim singing that song over and over again. No wonder it drives the other Sims around them absloutly NUTS!

About the pregnant Sims statement, Thomas and Lilygirl, you are right, however, I've seen pregnant women on the treadmill, and the doctor says it's okay in the hot tub, (I know a few that have done this), as long as it's on the lowest settings. So maybe they should allow a pregnant Sim with a high athletic skill use the treadmill, but only on the "pacing" option.

or the 'don't break a sweat' option. The main concern with both the hot tub and working out in general is overheating. I started working out at the gym at the beginning of my last pregnancy (although morning sickness ensured that I couldn't keep it up) and my personal trainer set a lower heartrate (compared to what it would be not pregnant) that I needed to achieve and maintain. I think the main key is drinking plenty of water though.

But the don't break a sweat option actually makes them sweat
Or maybe it's just a graphical thing (could have sworn my sim was sweating when using the "DBaS" option)

Also, I find it annoying that I can use "Quick burst" when at home for hours on end, yet if I go on holiday (one of the missions in France is to jog round town) then using the option gives a "fatigued" moodlet (yes, I had supermaxed Athletic by this point)

I don't actually mind learning the foreign songs, it gives a nice relationship boost when "convince XYZ" about missions
