Full screen or not?
« on: July 28, 2011, 12:03:41 PM »
So I'm before this dilemma, full screen or not.

The case is, I noticed that TS3 is somehow rendering faster when it's in full screen mode, however this makes it a tad bit uncomfortable to browse through other programs.

The question is: is it just me? Is the game really running faster when it's in full screen mode?

Thanks!

I've just been playing a little in windowed mode and I think it's maybe a bit slower. It makes sense though, doesn't it. Your computer has to render the desktop and maybe other programs as well and Sims is already quite heavy to run.
It probably depends on your computer is how much of a difference you'll see.

I will put mine on windowed screen if I need to come to the forum or need to find something, but I don't like to keep it there, because I use my mouse to scroll and in windowed screen, you have to use the arrows in the sims panel to scroll in all directions. :)

Hm, thanks guys, that would possibly explain why my game is less laggier lately (I've been playing in full screen mode). :)

I always play in full screen, and if I want to go on the forum I just minimize it. Is there an easy way to minimize it? I have to push the volume button on my computer to minimize the game.

I click the Windows icon button ("start button", that's what I call it), and it momentarily takes me to the desktop. Another option is to do Ctrl+Shift+Delete if you're on a Windows OS, that will open the task manager (in XP at least).

Okay I'll try that. I've tried the escape button but that didn't work.

Nah, that never works for me either. Would be pretty neat if it did.

I would have thought that it would work. When I try to make it full screen again it sometimes turns black for about 15 seconds.

Same for me. Wow I guess our games are identical twins. ;D

I have to click like crazy where the game should be and then it finally pops up.

I switch between my game and my desktop with alt-tab - and, yeah, it does take a few seconds for the game to come up when I switch back to it.

What is interesting (and perhaps dangerous) though, the other day I gave the game the task to save a game and go back to main menu. It saved the game well... But when I decided to continue playing, it started flashing and I had to force-end it via the task manager. Not a pleasant occurrence, for sure.

Yeah, don't minimize the game while it's saving. Weird things tend to happen is my experience.

I have one excuse... I want the forums. Saving is b-o-r-i-n-g. ;D
