Garden Sprinkler is stuck in play mode

My garden sprinkler is stuck in "play in" mode. My Sims is not stuck playing in it though...thank goodness. When I click on the sprinkler it only gives me the option to play in it, and that's it. When I first installed it I upgraded it to auto water, and then one day I clicked on the play in option and now it won't let me have any other options to turn it off or nothing. I went into buy mode and even build mode to try and delete it and it will not let me interact with it because the game views it as an object in use. I can't move it, delete it or anything. I have also read online that when the sprinkler is left on, it runs up your household bills. Great!
I have tried to use the cheat modes...but for some reason I do not get the option to use most of my cheats even though I have followed all the steps to enable cheats. I get a few, but that is all. Can anybody help me on the sprinkler issue or give me any answers why I can not get all of the cheat options to use in my game? Thanks.

I had 4 sprinklers in the current nectar challenge and that exact thing happened to one of them — it just stayed on all the time despite having the Auto Water upgrade. I don't know what to tell you. It's a minor bug. It's annoying. But, at least the garden gets watered. I know a lot of players intentionally just leave their sprinklers on 24/7 and then that takes the upgrade out of the picture.

I don't think the sprinklers left on runs up your bills.  I've never noticed anything like that. However, I don't have any help for you either if deleting them doesn't work.

The cheat you need to use is moveobjects on , to be able to do anything with the sprinkler since it is stuck.  You will be able to move it or delete it.

It may be that you're just entering the cheat incorrectly. I know they're case sensitive.

Thank you Pam and Metro for your response. I am glad I was able to use the cheat that "wild" told me to use...it worked. Thanks again for this site, it is really helpful.

Be careful about moveobjects on. I haven't deleted sims with it since sims 1 (where you could take them back with one mouse-click and they came back with filled need bars), but I'm unsure what happens in Sims 2 and 3. Can't bring them back as easily as in sims 1 though, that's for sure, but it's great at erasing glitches.
