Very Strange - Sims pic is gone, box still there??

Long story short: Parents bring home baby girl from hospital, I save game and next log in baby's face disappears from left, green square still there.  Baby is still in the crib but parents can't interact with it.  Agency comes to take the baby away, however, there is another baby in the crib with a different first and last name.  Still can't interact with it, can't figure out how to get rid of it.  Grieving parents move to another house.  Mother reads in paper that the baby with new name dies a mysterious death.  They decide to get pregnant again.  In the meantime, there is a paparazzi outside their house looks exactly like father and in fact has his name.  I thought something was going when I thought the father was just standing on the porch when he was supposed to be at work, he was at work, his clone was on the porch.  Then, mom goes to hospital to have the new baby, she walks in the hospital, has a boy and after I name him and choose his traits, the hospital icon pops up again, I see the mom walk into the hospital again, another boy, I name it and choose his traits, this happens 2 more times before I finally quit game.  Talking about some really weird glitches.  I think I will delete this game and start over.

The green box bug is very annoying.  It ruined my first attempt at the random wishmasters challenge as well as my attempt at the decadynasty.  I have also had one of my sims meet and befriend his "twin".  Looked the same and had same name, weird.  I also read in another thread that someone had the repeating baby thing happen like eight times.  The new patch has definately made things interesting.  Deleting and starting over sounds like the best bet.  Good luck with it.

Actually you saved me from making a thread and after many tries, I finally found something that worked, hopefully it is not a temporary fix.  I had the same thing happen.  I had a couple with a teenager and a youth.  I go into game and the youth's picture is gone, only the green box. I went out of the game, went back in and she is gone completely.  Parents kept getting wishes to see her grow up well and so on.  They have another baby.  At this point, I put the family in the bin, with house and noticed that the little girls picture, still in the menu pic.  I go back in and place house on another lot.  Lo and behold, the other little girl is back.  So teenager, youth and infant.  So that part worked well, until I saw the sleeping "Z Z Z's" coming out of the crib and no one was in it.  I thought this was weird, so I packed up their stuff and just moved the family in the bin and placed them in another house, all is well now and everything is fine.  I guess I kind of took over your thread, but I was actually getting to a point.  If you put the family in the bin and just move them to a new house, it might work for you like it did mine.  I hope so, I really hate losing sims.  This has happened to alot of people, but I hope this works.  Again, sorry for hijacking your thread.

I took the liberty of changing the title around some so other members could see "what" was strange.  This way, if anyone else has any ideas, they know what the problem is.

The clone bug has been around for a while.  I remember back in a very early game, I had a clone of the resurrected Lolita Goth at Lolita's house.  They were having a lovely game, chasing each other around the yard.  Lolita has the childish trait so she must have been in seventh heaven in finding another annoying sim just like herself.  One way to avoid it, or so I have read, is to clean out your library of sims. You could export them as simpacks if you didn't already have copies of them in CAS.

I believe the green square bug is new with the last patch.  It seems to be linked to travel.

Thanks everybody!  I hadn't read anything before about these particular bugs so I thought I was going nuts.  No worries about "hiJacking" my thread!  I had already deleted that game before reading the work around, but now I know what to do for next time.

I played the sims this afternoon, saved my game, quit the game.

I start the sims again, load my saved game. (i have a mom, and 2 teens, male+female)
The "avatar pic" (of the female teen) on the left is an empty green box.
She is the active sim when i start the game, i can make her do stuff, but when i click her mom, i cant click the teen anymore.
She IS visible btw. (she does have a moodswing tho, but she had it before and i could still play with her, prank around and stuff)
EDIT: i tried to load the game for the 10th time, and she's invisible now....

I tried to use the resetSim cheat, with capital letters, without, but nothing seems to be working.
I have WA,LN,AMB and GN, all legal.

I've had the same problem as you-I believe it was just after the Generations patch. I had to go back to an earlier save. I hope you can find a solution, though.

It happened to me too! An adult, though... It all started when I traveled to Egypt... Couldn't find a solution and had to delete...

The only solution I have found for this problem is to get rid of the teen. I know, that is horrible, but it is the only way to be able to continue playing this family. If you don't do it changes are high that the next time you load up your file that your buggy teen has infected other sims as well, resulting in the same problem.
The best you can do is putting the teen out of the house, getting back in the house while the teen on the clipboard got deleted and your family won't even remember her anymore, nor will she apear in the family tree.

To prevent this later on: save often, and save under different file names. Only than you can get back to a previous save incase bugs start to happen.

Believe me, I've bin through this many many times and nothing else did help. No moving to another town.



The one and only thing you could do (but I have tested this only a little bit) is to play another family in your same town and marry one of the household members from your previous made family (DON'T marry the bugged teen, under no circumstances). That you can do in case you want to keep the family tree.

Moving the entire fam to another house in the edit town mode didnt solve it for me.

It worked    Tho i have the same problem again, now with 3 out of 4 family members 
Is there a permanent solution for this?

From everything I have read on this subject there really isn't a permanant fix for it.  There is another thread that suggests moving the family to another town, but even that is a work around.  Hopefully EA will address this bug when they release the new patch, which should be soon.  I believe they are releasing a new SP in the next few days.  Of course the new patch will probably have its own issues.

Started over with 1 sim, hopefully that solves the problem for now lol..
