What's with the boots from Barnacle Bay?
« on: July 23, 2011, 12:38:22 PM »
Seems like since I installed Barnacle Bay that 90% of the people have these boots on with their bathing suits. Is it the same for everyone else or do I just have townies with a strange fashion sense?

This is in Sunset Valley.

It seems like I see that a lot in my games too.  It's quite annoying.  It would be cool if there was an option to turn certain clothing items off for the town, like once I create a shirt with a different color and save it I start seeing it on another sim.  I wanna be UNIQUE!!!  LOL

You could be unique by wearing the clothes that come with the game if all the other sims in the town are wearing you custom stuff.

Maybe it's because the swimwear section only has those boots in the shoes section and automatically selects them.

That's probably it. It's just strange that they're there to start with. Hate to think how hard it is to swim with those boots on.

I've started using the cheat to take everyone I see with those boots back into CAS with and removing them.

Well, there are only two options for footwear in the swimsuit section. I suppose there's a fifty/fifty chance of getting bare feet or boots, and you've just gotten unlucky.  ???

That's typical of my luck anyway. Give a 50/50 chance at something and I'll blow it every time. :)

In those pictures, 75% of the sims have the boots and 25% have bare feet. Have you looked at the rest of town to see if it evens out?

No, I haven't checked everyone in town. But it seems to be more with the boots than with out. At least for the ones that go to the pool or use the water slides I put in Central Park.

Are there many recolours  of the boots? If there's three and they're treated as different options, that could put the odds up to 25/75.

For reasons I'll never understand, the boots and pirate costume are considered swimwear by the game.  Once it's programmed like that, it will show up randomly on the townies.  I think it's ridiculous, personally, because I've never known anybody who swims in a pirate costume OR in boots!

I find it oddly frivolous but funny that Sims are randomly seen in their pirate boots swimming. For the children, it's cute when they have their Hulk like tops for swimwear in Generations, but with the boots that came from Barnacle Bay, that's just odd. If an Insane Sim were to play on the Slip N Slide in those Pirate Boots, it would be so much more acceptable. :D

You can try deleting (uninstalling) them from the game (Launcher, Installed Content) then they won't wear them, but of course they won't be available to you if you decide you want your Sims to wear them.
