"Rotating" roofs - really annoying

Everytime I build a new house I end up frustrated with the roofing tools. Is is possible to keep the roof from "turning around" when you build it? I mean, when they change their orientation rotating themselves depending on how long the roof section is. It's really annoying when you know exactly how the roof should look like and then it just doesn't work!

I hope I explained it well... I really don't know how to say it more clearly in english  Anyway... sorry for the stupid question but I really don't know hehe.

It's OK, I think I understand. When you go to place a roof piece, at one point in stretching it across the room it will jump and face in another direction. Is that right?

Some of the roof pieces (like the triangular gable roofs) have a long version and a short version, so if the first one doesn't orientate correctly the second one probably will. For others, like the half-roof pieces, try starting from different corners and seeing how they come out. If that doesn't work, I'm afraid there isn't much else you can do apart from reconsidering your design, in my experiemce.

I was hoping for some trick to rotate them myself, like when you press ; for placing floor tiles or something. I've tried different corners and everything but it doesn't work, so I guess I will have to redesign the house  .

When this happens to me, for example I'm using the peaked roof and it insists on turning from the left-to-right orientation to the front-to-back orientation...  I just select the opposite peaked roof.  It will do the same thing, except it will go from front-to-back orientation to the left-to-right orientation.  Wow, I really hope that makes sense.

You just have to know when and how to use which roof sections. I'll try to explain it...

The roof with flat traingular ends, comes in two different kinds. On the first the flat ends are on the short edges of the rectangle. On the second the flat ends are on the long edges of the rectangle. Play around with it, and you'll see that. Also, if you're making a square and the flat ends appear on the wrong sides, try dragging the roof from an adjacent corner. Does that make sense?
Also, do the same with half edge roofs - if the closed end is on the wrong side, drag from a different corner.
If this doesn't make sense, I or someone else may be able to give you some screenshot explanations.

Who knew roofs would be so confusing, eh? You're right Frey, a roof-rotating key would be useful, but sadly I don't think such a thing exists yet.

I think I get it now, I'll try it later when I launch the game. I've never been a builder myself but I'm making a Riverview makeover now so I've been learning a lot  .  I will come back later if I don't make it!
