Corrupted Sim?
« on: February 05, 2010, 07:46:57 PM »
This is just weird...and infinitely annoying.

Enya Gaia, my main Sim in the first game I started when I reinstalled TS3 in January, seems to be corrupted. I'm in France, and she's tomb-raiding again. Here's the issue: when I select one of my other Sims, then attempt to reselect her, the game crashes to the desktop with no error message.

I've tried running the game from the backup save, deleting cache files, and checking my settings(high detail lots, which seems to be a big cause of crashes in people's games, is at 3).

I'm at a loss. I'd hate to have to start a game over, but if I do, I'm going to have just Enya by herself...no one else. I've put hundreds of hours into this particular game...she has a level 3 Visa everywhere except for France. She's at level 10 in many skills, and has a huge collection of gems and relics.  Only other thing I could think to do is eject this particular copy of her from the household, then put in another copy of her(at least I have her backed up).

Do you have any custom content installed from third party downloads?  That's always the first suspect.

Nope, nothing. I've heard the stories of people borking their games with CC, so I've never used it.

You may have to reinstall the game.  Unless some of our more technical minded members can think of something else to help.

I'm not so very technical, so you have to wait till someone else can help you with that.

But if she's trapped in some sort of pathfinding issue, have you tried with resetting the sim? Maybe it could be an error that allows her to move around and not to have something going through her stomach, but still ruin your game.

I tried reinstalling everything, and it seems to have worked. Woo! I would have cried if I lost that game, or at least gotten very close. xD

Heehee, yeah. I was epicly stoked when I found that it worked. Too bad reinstalling everything, and patching on top of that, takes so long. But, considering the game itself has hundreds of hours put into it, it was worth waiting for everything to get done.
