Consignment Shop Celebrity

I wasn't exactly sure where to post this since it involves both Ambitions and Late Night, but I came across a problem at the consignment store. I had been selling fruit and such to the elder consignment store owner and then he died (I guess), because the next day, a younger guy came in and kept running the shop. Problem is, he won't let me sell/buy anything. He's a two star celebrity (I'm one star), and I was just going to impress him, but it seems I can't do that. My only options were to buy and greet. When I greeted him, he wouldn't talk because my celebrity level wasn't high enough, but it also wouldn't let me impress him because he's the consignment guy and all you can do is Buy. So basically, I can't sell/buy because my celebrity level is too low for me to automatically impress him, and it doesn't give me the "impress celebrity" option because he's the consignment shop guy. Any help? Right now, I basically can't use the consignment shop until he dies or I get a higher celebrity level.

Get a higher celebrity level or delete the register and replace it with a new one.

If you don't mind cheating (and of course if it is not forbidden by the Challenge rules (if you're playing one)), you can always do it the quick way - turn on testing cheats (Ctrl+Shift+C => testingcheatsenabled true) and drag the relationship bar of the clerk and your Sim up to friends, or good friends. Thus you'll be able to speak him without the need to impress him first.

What options are available when you click on the cash register itself? You should have the options to "Buy" and "Browse", and when you have things consigned there should be a "Cancel Consignments" option. When you have things consigned and the "Buy" option isn't working, cancelling your consignments works to reset things and you can "Buy" things again, including re-consigning the things you just cancelled.

The game is in a challenge so I can't cheat, and I can't use edit town either to delete the register. Wish I could for this, though! When I click the cash register, Buy and Browse both come up, but I don't have any consignments to cancel, so that one isn't up. But nothing happens when I click Buy on the register. They talk like they do just before the sell/buy screen comes up, but nothing happens. Same thing when I click on the consignment shop guy, too. I guess I'll just have to up my celebrity level.

Do you have other household members? I've had issues before where one Sim would have something on consignment and then the consignment store wouldn't work for anyone. Select each of your Sims in turn and click on the consignment register, if the Cancel Consignments option comes up, have that Sim cancel their consignments. Make sure you cancel the consignments for each Sim that has that option available. This has always *knocks on wood* worked for me.

I don't know if this will work, but maybe try being at the shop at 6pm when it closes.  Maybe you can impress him when he's not on the clock.
