Information about this patch:

1. This upadate is required to play the digital download version of the Sims 3 High-End Loft Stuff Pack.
2. Users can now capture the Town Theater subject in Photography.
3. A change was made so that desks do not burn anymore.
4. Mac only: Fixed an error with uploading screenshots from the Mac when the ".jpg" file extension is deleted.
5. PC only: Fixed a bug where the launcher would display an error message that it could not connect to EADM on Vista and Windows 7 machines.

If you want these updates, then you should install it.  If you don't need or want the things it fixes, then don't.  It's too soon to know if the update will inadvertantly bring more bugs.  Only experience will tell us that.  Also, keep in mind that our tournament regulations require that participants have the most recent EA patch/update.  If you're not up to date with patches and such, you'll be disqualified from playing the challenges to be ranked in the system.

What about ongoing challenges? If it turns out there are significant bugs in the new patch, then i will be at a disadvantage if i have not yet finished the current challenge compared to those who have already finished before the patch was released.

Metro is our challenge pro.  He'll be able to answer this for you.

Unfortunately, that scenario we have absolutely no control over. The simplest solution is the solution I currently require for all challenge players — if you are playing any given 2010 Tournament challenge, then you need to be playing under EA's latest patch. That keeps the playing field as level as possible.

If it's discovered that there is some kind of bug that would have a major impact on early finishers, then that's something I would address later and probably allow players finishing under an earlier patch to do a restart to keep things fair. But, we're not at that point yet.
