Ambition at platinum

This is more an observation about a quite annoying feature of the game than a question. Why is it that even though you have pushed an ambition up to platinum, you still have to spend any remainng quest points?

If due to my laziness a similar post exists, any moderator may hunt me down and slap me with a herring.

Sorry, I'm all out of herrings just now. 

But I agree that it can be annoying - when you've reached platinum, you should be done.  However, there's a simple way to get rid of those extra quest points if you want.  Just take on quests, any quests, and as soon as they start, cancel them.  You'll lose those quest points very quickly.  I found this out the hard way when I ran into my first bugged quest and the only thing I could think of was to quit the quest.
