Meteor bug
« on: July 11, 2011, 01:10:57 AM »
I saw in the sims 3 forums that meteors occur more frequently, then someone said even if I don't have generations, updating to the latest patch will bring this problem. I want to know, has this bug been fixed? I need to know because that's the only thing that's keeping me from buying the Ep.

I have been playing generations since it pretty much come out and have the most recent patch.
Have not encountered even 1 meteor falling from the sky !!
But since that feature came with World Adventures and since then I have only had 5 meteors
so it definitely doesn't seem anymore frequent to me!!

EDIT: woops I meant ambitions

Meteors came with Ambitions, not World Adventures. I can't say, as before I had Generations, and after, for that matter, I have never had a meteor.

I never had a single meteor and I do have all the patches and expansions. I believe it's just random. Someone had three meteors in one day but only in that save file. And I do hope I didn't jinx myself by saying that. ;D

I have read of people having problems with meteors but it seemed to be because they had an outdated mod.  I have never had one lousy meteor ever in all my playing hours.  :(

I'm correcting myself. I did have a meteor when I first got Late Night. It hit Plumbonb pictures. My sim was going to her first day at the job and came running back out. Then it hit and killed Emmy Starr, Devin Ashton and Emmy's husband. For the rest of the game Matthew Hamming was running around all black and singed!

That must have been quite amusing.

Ha, Mathew running singed.
Anyways, I have had The Sims since the beginning and Ambitions since the day it came out, and still today I haven't had a meteor fall, never! It's frustrating! I mean I want to see at least one, not like in every game, but once in a while.

I'm pretty sure there's custom pre-placed Meteor Spawners. It's like fish spawners but they're unaccessible from in-game. Of course, it might just be random.

I've only seen one meteor since the last patch, and I've been playing a lot since generations came out. Meteors haven't been a problem at all.

I have been playing a lot, and I have only ever had one meteor.  It was before generations even...  I kind of want a few more because I didnt get a picture of the one that I did have.

Same with me. I have all the expansion packs plus Barnacle Bay and the latest patches and I've never had a meteor in all my many many playing hours... and I have the game pretty much since it came out. I've been playing Generations like crazy for the last month and nothing has changed. I think it's just a random thing... or maybe sims with the unlucky trait get them more often?
I hope I won't regret saying this, but I wouldn't mind getting a meteor every once in a while... as long as it doesn't destroy my favorite household hehe.

Do you know how frequently the person was talking about? Almost one after the other?

The people in the forums said they got meteors every single sim hour. One sim goes out to go shopping, then BAM! A meteor strikes. The next hour another sim goes the backyard, then a meteor strikes again.
