How often do you get NPC autonomously visiting your home?

This happens to me often in all of my games. I had a shy, loner Sim in Twinbrook and I could count on either Molly Coddle or Sofia Carlton coming to visit almost every day. Typically they would chat for a few moments, watch some TV then go skinny dipping in his hottub. Then one day Molly came to visit and asked him to move in with her. So he moved in with her. They are best friends, but neither one ever got a wish for more than that. I was surprised with her doing all of that since she's a loner also.

I've had DeAndre Wolff (I think that's it) show up at my current household everyday in the afternoon since they became rich (without cheats, yay!) and it happens right before my sim finishes cooking. I let him in and wel,l call everyone to meal. He is an elder and best friends with the 4 sims living in the house.  I don't mind him showing up, I might even ask him to move in. It makes me feel bad to see him walking with that cane and his rock star hair xD. The weeks in the game is Week 12 Day 5, since Week 7 he has been showing up.

In my experience, it depends on where my Sims' homes are located.  The closer to town center, the more visitors (I only have Vanilla, so I can only comment on that).  I've found my Sims get more drop-bys when they purchase pre-made homes.  But even with custom homes, even far away from town, certain folks always seem to drop by.  Victoria Andrews is one.  Perhaps it's because she's a journalist.  Perhaps she feels there's a juicy story to be had!

Emma Hatch and Nick Alto like to drop by, too.  Not at the same time, though.

This is probably a good explanation indeed, thanks Sim Posey Yum. My sims have been visited quite often by their friends lately, every couple of days maybe. I was putting this new behavior on a recent patch, but it's true that their home is much closer to the center than the lots I usually pick.

I've also witnessed townies visiting other people houses while my Sims were there too. Or just sometimes I hear the door bell of the neighbors rings. I find it rather nice in fact, it's like there is really some life happening in the 'hood without me controlling it. And that's certainly a change from what it was when the game was released.
