How often do you get NPC autonomously visiting your home?
« on: July 10, 2011, 03:37:25 AM »
I'm curious to see if others have a lot of NPC showing up for visits.
I started a new game to try the Heartbreaker, and I have male NPCs asking to be buzzed in every other day. This has led to some embarassing moments when one Romantic Interest is visiting and another shows up.

EDIT: realised I misspelled the topic.

I've never had this happen randomly, but whenever I use the shift-click mailbox cheat and click the 'Force Visitor' option, it is always an NPC that comes to visit even though none of my sims know them. I know they are NPCs because it's usually the newspaper people and once I even had a maid! ???

For some reason in this game even some of her female friends keep stopping by. Strange.

Hmm.. without inviting them round or anything? They just appear randomly? That is so weird! Never happened to me..

Neither to me! But sometimes I had a few uninvited guests stop by. But it was very rare, though. ???

It's been two in particular, "Elvira Slayer" and "Odine Perry". This is the first game where it happens a lot. Perhaps it's because she's maxed her charisma and is Best Friends with everyone in town.

I've had NPC visitors come over on their own a few times. Last night Rhoda Bagley showed up and just stood there watching one of my sims painting. Finally I had another sim invite her inside for a chat and some games.

I've had a couple of games where my Sims acquaintances would constantly show up wanting to be let in. I think both times my Sim had the charismatic trait and pretty high charismatic skill so that could be it.
The nice thing about apartments and security gates is that you can just ignore them, they won't even clutter up your yard. ;)

If the visitors are getting in your way, just put up a fence with a gate that you can lock to all but household members.  No need for security gates.

But the security gates look cooler. ;)

No security gates in a high rise apartment. they call and say "I'm in the lobby, can youlet me in". So, either your anti-social and say "no", or you buzz them in. Once they arrive, I say "Hi" and ask them to leave.

I've just noticed this in my recent game with a townie. At first I thought the person hanging around outside my family's house was just one of the paparazzi but it turned out to be Parker Langerak. He's acquaintances with one of my Sims but he's not friends with anyone in the house and he just keeps showing up, playing in their sprinklers, sitting on their patio and just loitering around.

It happened to me this morning, in the five minutes I played before my laptop shut down! ::) The newspaper girl delivered the newspaper then walked into the house and watched TV!

So it has now happened!

One day I turned on the game and saw Iqbal Alvi lying (fully clothed, thank goodness!) on my Sim's double bed! Gave me quite a fright, I must say!  :D
