Can you marry the Special Merchant?

I've never had a Sim marry the Special Merchant, but one of my Sims invited him to come to SV and move in.  There were no problems.

Yes, you can marry the Special Merchant.  If you do this while you're on vacation, they effectively quit their job and you won't have access to special merchant goods for the rest of the trip.  However on your return trip, there will be a new special merchant.

Hosfac is right. However, I've invited the Special Merchant to visit and they showed up. Then I asked them to stay over and went from there.
