Lost seeds and fruits
« on: January 31, 2010, 08:49:44 AM »
This is really frustrating....when I moved my family into the Alto mansion, I had some Money Tree seeds, and Omni Plant seeds in a Jiangzhou's chest, along with the uncut gems I store in it. When we moved, the seeds just disappeared, though the gems were all there. Also, I had a Chest of Alouette that I used to store several perfect specimens of every type of fruit/vegetable in the game. Upon moving, everything in there disappeared save for two Life Fruits and two Flame Fruits. At least I also have perfect fruits and vegetables in the fridge as well, and in one of my Sim's inventories.

I can just order more Omni Plant seeds, so it's not much of an issue there, but I really liked having those money tree seeds for backup. I guess I'll have to raid the area surrounding the graveyard for Special seeds again. Argh.

It makes it worse because I had to move hundreds of items out of my family inventory, which took hours. Remind me to never move again, or at least not without selling everything...but there's no way I was going to give up my cut gems, almost a complete set.

Also, this is unrelated to the original question, but I figure I might as well post all my technical gripes in one topic, rather than clutter up the board with another one: do you all experience a slowdown in loading time of really old games? The game I use the most has had hundreds of hours put into it, and at the screen that shows the lot and the family, the load bar just sits there for maybe a minute or so, then finally progresses and loads. I don't have this issue with newer games. Is this just something that happens to old games, and is perfectly normal? Sometimes it will load a little faster, but especially when I start it up for the first time in the morning, it takes forever.

What you're experiencing is completely normal in my opinion. An older file has a lot more baggage to process than a brand new file.

@Pam, how long does it take for your 12th-gen Legacy family to load?

It does take my 12th generation legacy family a little longer to load.  And it's difficult to play because it's so graphics heavy and so huge.  Items don't render quickly and the game is sluggish.  That's why I don't play it anymore.  I've got another new game that's also on the biggest lot with an enormous house full it items.  It doesn't render quickly either and also plays a little sluggish.  I'm seriously thinking about moving that family to a smaller and more manageable house.  Those enormous mansions are nice, but they can be difficult to play sometimes.

I had the same issue! I moved one of my older families to one of the 60x60 lots and i had a treasure chest full of perfect EVERYTHING and another one with Money tree seeds. After the move, I only had my flame fruits and life fruits and no money seeds. I about cried. Seriously! After that, I said well I'm either not moving anymore of my families or I'm going to put everything I don't want to lose in my personal inventory!

I know what you mean. I was royally frustrated when this happened to me. I've learned my lesson, that's for sure. Keep stuff in a Sim's personal inventory...nowhere else. Geez, EA! I give them credit though, because they do seem to have fixed the glitch where you couldn't go fishing with Special Seeds in your inventory. There were other little glitches that I noticed have been fixed...too bad the patch broke the butterflies and beetles.  :(
