OK then; back on track. Is there any way to trigger these opportunities? Just that a >400 000$ reward for an opportunity is very well-needed sometimes.

It's also a good idea to keep the opportunity slots open.  If you have an unfulfilled opportunity pending, a new one won't be able to pop up in that category.

If it's money you want, start collecting metals from all over.  If you have World Adventures loaded, hit each area once and collect for your entire 3 day stay.  Having a collection helper is huge for efficiency.  Buy a Display (XL Size) and start transmuting.

Transmute 5 separate types of metal in the 8 slots to get a Supernovium seed metal bar.  Then proceed to refill the case over and over ... making sure that you have between 2 and 4 types for every combine.  After you get going on this, it will take roughly 40 to 50 combines to have a Compendium bar worth in excess of 1 BILLION Simoleans.

Transmuting is hands down the best and fastest way to make money in SIMS 3.  Nothing else even comes close.

I can't imagine why anyone would need a billion Simoleans. Am I missing something? I mean this overkill reminds me of Diablo players seeking a 350k damage weapon when it only takes 100k damage to quickly dispatch the hardest monsters in the game.

Why settle for just some financial security when you could have so much money that the world inflation goes down by 3%? There's no such thing as an overkill, it's only winning or winning bigger than before!

Seriously though, I have to check the transmuting out sometime. I have toyed around with it for a while some time ago, but never actually wanted to make one worth a billion simbucks!

Here's the thing about these big money making opportunities in Sims 3.  What are you gonna do with that much money?  And if you are going to try to get that much money using some extreme method, why not just use the money cheats, because what you're getting is almost like a cheat anyway.

But it isn't cheating if you go about it slowly like I will now with my huge collection of smelted metals in my Legacy Family basement. :) I'll have them set for life and then they can follow more creative methods! I will then have lots of good Sims to donate the money!

Just curious, how long does this method take?

Why leave them in the basement? Unless the family is already super rich and every room has the +40moodlet, put any bars or gems in the rooms, and the environment goes up!

The way I see it is this, true, you will never have any need for that much money.  In all realistic terms, what this does is essentially turning on a switch that makes the build tools go into free mode. It also displays the limits of the money in the game as well as displays that they are attainable.

As for using money cheats, I prefer not to use cheat codes or mods unless it is necessary to bypass a design flaw or glitch in the game, the most glaring of which are half height walls to create split level homes, or resetting sims that are stuck for some reason.  Not to mention that using cheat codes to create this level of wealth would require repetition bordering on masochism in my mind, similar to start-stopping performances for the guitar extreme cash Metro wrote about, or the art painting on crack that uses the same start-cancel bending of game mechanics.

The reason I keep writing about it is because of the interest some people have to remove the financial constraints without going into sandbox mode.

As for how long does it take?  I have made bars over 1 billion simoleans with a single trip each to France and Egypt.  I spent every waking moment collecting metals & gems while I was on the trips.  Just make sure to create a Supernovium bar to get the process started.  So you should be able to achieve financial security within a week.

What good is Tiberium anyway?  What is it for?  What does it do besides make you sick?

As for why would you need all that money?  Why, to take over the world, of course! Muwahahahah

It's good for mixing up gems to make new ones. Like spire cut forms you normally can't have. Besides that, it also taste very good in nectar. :P
And that isn't a joke, when mixing it with a lot of other rare ingredients you can get nectar.

Does $300,000 count as rich? The house is worth over $500,000!  ;D

Well the reason I said what I did was if the family is rich enough to give every room in the house a +40 Beautifully Decorated moodlet, then the bars won't do any good being in a room. But, if the family isn't rich and can't afford to do that, then the bars and cut gems will add to the environment, possibly giving you a +40 moodlet. In your case, unless your house is way too big and the entire house is 60x60, then I would think that 300,000 simoleans would be enough to buy some decorative objects to make the nonbeautiful rooms, beautiful.  ;D

My richest sim has about 500k, with a house that's worth 750k.  Since all three, mom, dad and young adult son are all board breakers, they have many tiberiums.  I have them on a case and in the dark it's really beautiful to see them all spitting green and the chime they put out.  Somethimes I get carried away watching and listening to them and forget about the sims. :D

They earned all their money, I didn't give it to them.  Right now they are in the process of acquiring the town of Riverview. ;D
