Just wondering how many of you wish the fire meter is abolished?
Personally I think it took out half the sims fun away. Building and decorating a perfect home for your sims is as much a fun as dictating your sims life. They provide so many wondrous items - even the collection stuff - only to put a cap on it?  :-\ My sims... ok, I, have been struggling with the meter every-sim-day, not able to spend those simoleans...

Yeah it can be annoying! One time I only got through the first floor of a 3 story house and it already reached the limit.  >:( But the game might get laggy if we do any more than that but still.

I noticed that the trees/bushes bring up the fire meter a lot, but whenever I use the fire storm Karma, none of the trees/bushes seldom catch fire. I wouldn't mind if the fire meter stayed on the game, but I think it can be configured a bit more "reasonable" than it is. House building is one of the key installments on The Sims 3, and I think it could be re-worked to be more effiecent.

@Rapturous_

Agreed. It should at least varied with lot size, number of house members etc. Big family needs more stuff!  :(

Indeed, certain thing raises the meter more significantly. Such as planting seeds, and leftovers. Also, I try not to hit the red zone on my bar, though not tested and proven, but some glitches happened the first time I hit it, like sims stucking in bed/shower, town map blackened out.

My sims living in a big house with minimal furnishing. Though their info sheet claimed they're rich, I simply don't feel so... Poor us console simmers  :'(

Yeah I've always hated that thing.  At least the 360 one is bigger than the original.

I think that the meter should only count for the appliances. Also they should put all the outside trees and plants with the landscape menu when you hit select. But other than i love the game in general. They also should have like a house realitor career. Buy the different houses and fix them up and become like the landlord. You choose who lives there and how much rent to pay. Would be neat. Or take the culinary career and let you build your own restraunt.

I'm not too much of a designer, but I know it gets annoying. I had moved from the starting house, where the fire meter was near halfway, to a 2 story house, and the meter was way over half when I got there, since decorations I never really used were everywhere. It would be kind of bad though, having a ton of stuff in the house could lag the game when loading. Still it is kind of bad the way it is right now.

I hate that dang fire meter. I also notice glitches when it's in the red.

Heres and idea to try if you upgrade items

Upgrade Stove to Fire Proof

Upgrade all your bathroom, living room and kitchen appliances to Unbreakable

If you have 2 bathrooms or bedrooms try to repeat objects like same bed same sink as the more of that item you place  it can reduce  the fire limit for some reason.

Try to avoiding buying expensive items

It reduces the limit not a huge amount but i guess every little bit helps :)

I used to try to avoid buying things for my sims house.  But now with Sims 3 Pets having more new stuff I can't help myself.  Its just so fun decorating!!  It's like having a little dollhouse. :)

I noticed that garden plants fill up the meter extremely quick, whereas I can buy a huge rug and a weight bench set and the bar will barely budge.Just my input I don't really mind as my three story is about full and I have everything I want(have about 1/5 left of the bar to fill)

This is probably a stupid question, but what is a fire meter?

The fire meter is only used on the console versions. It's a meter that keeps track of the furniture used in the house, and when maxed out, you can't buy any more furniture until you sell some.

I tend to have loud opinions. So sorry. I got tons of issues, lol. I can also be found on Yahoo! Answers.

But my sims are happy when their home is well decorated!  Is so frustrating.  My home is dark orange on verge of being red.  I looked around and was looking for some things to remove, I did and it didn't really help.  I may have to move again.  But we just planted cheese and egg plants, so have to wait a bit.
