World-class gallery help needed
« on: January 29, 2010, 12:28:37 PM »
I can't seem to achieve this lifetime wish. I have over 25,000 simoleons worth of photos displayed and 10 from each location but no go. I feel the location might be the issue. Non of the photos from the travel locations are showing a location tag. Has anyone come across this too? Any idea how to fix it? Thanks

Hi pixiequeen, welcome to the forums. Looks like this is a bug. Check out Pam's World Class Gallery walkthrough and you'll see at the end of her piece that her character also did not get the LTW fulfilled. It's just something you have to keep track of. That's a pretty big bug, I'd say given a player obviously wants those happiness points for a character.

EDIT: Wait a minute...I just read Pam's very last paragraph and Jimmy did get his LTW fulfilled. I misunderstood what Pam was saying in the paragraph above. Now, I get it. Are you sure you have enough photos? It just may be that you don't have the right value yet to trigger the Wish to be completed.

I'm almost certain I do have enough. She had over 45k worth on her camera and I put all the high priced ones on the wall. One was worth over 11k and several were over 1k. There were a heck of a lot of them too. I'll try putting up absolutely everything but I am thinking the location thing is the problem.

Do you have 10 pics from your home town on the walls as well?

Can I ask for clarification on this wish?  By 'current collection', does it mean photographs on display in your home or one of the collections you can complete in the skill journal?

TGBlank, I never thought of counting Sunset Valley as a location, but that's a good point.  Fortunately, we've got lots of those as well.

It means displayed btw. So you need 10 pics of each location including home displayed on the walls.

ETA I eventually got the wish by putting many more of her pictures up. I'm a little confused as I was sure I had the amount required but I didn't exactly calculate it. Ah well it's done now. Thanks for the help

Just a note to say that I achieved this wish after my first trip to France.  I was really pleased, as my Sim is still a teen (one day away from becoming an elder).

I didn't go about this wish in anything like the right way--my Sim did not have the photographer's eye trait, although she was artistic.  She started as a child with the cheapest camera, and all the China pictures were taken on that.  She had the fast-learning lifetime reward, and mastered the photography skill as a teen in Egypt (she may be only a teen, but she's taken four holidays that were 6 days or more long, and most of her pictures were taken while on holiday).  But I completed it as soon as I put up the tenth picture from France.  I think the fact that so much of this lifetime wish has to happen on vacation makes it time-consuming, but that time doesn't count against your Sim's life, so it's quite a good one.

Anyway, I thought I'd mention it as encouragement to anybody else thinking of this wish.  It wasn't actually as hard as I thought it would be in the end.  The biggest pain is that you end up with pictures plastered all over your house....  I need to take them down now.

Do you mean one day from becoming a Young Adult?  :)

I think I have heard of a bug where one of the sunset valley buildings doesn't get identified by the camera as the target? Correct me if I am wrong.

Other than the bug for the theater, I'm not aware of any.  But maybe someone else knows.

Yes, that would make more sense, wouldn't it? I was thinking of her mother who got her lifetime wish one day after becoming elder.  It's kind of nice that Lara's got her entire (young) adulthood free to pursue other interests.

samoht04 mentioned a bug where buildings aren't identified by the camera in Sunset valley, I'm experiencing the same thing in Riverville...so far I can't get a pict of the Spa or any of the Parks to be identified...does anyone know of a fix for this? Very Frustrating ::)

Actually, the bug is the other way around: the game doesn't recognize the riverview valley buildings that are different than their sunset valley counterparts (like the spa). There is also no beach on riverview, all in all, riverview is a bad town for a photographer.

Sometimes you need to take several photos before you get it, sometimes its better to get a clear shot at the building choice otherwise something could get in way. I was also just mentioning stuff I had heard around even though it may make sense if there was a bug for the Theatre. I have not really had a Photographer much hardly once to be honest so I probably am not the best on this subject!  ;)
