Not sure how to 'Clean' my Game?
« on: July 01, 2011, 02:06:52 PM »
Well, the title is a little misleading..

So, there I was, attempting to clean my game. I know I'm meant to delete almost everything with 'cache' in it and all the contents of DcBackup and DcCache, but somehow, after cleaning my game, all my custom content (stuff from the store and swap shop) was gone! It was all gone. Stuff I had paid for and everything!  >:( So, I went to the Recycle Bin and restored everything I deleted and it's all back now, but my game is lagging as all the caches are still full. Can anyone provide me with a list of what to delete and what not to delete, regarding the fact I have CC? I also have Ambitions and everything is patched up, although I'm not sure if that makes a difference. Thank you. :)

You aren't meant to clear out DcCache! That's exactly why your stuff is gone!

Delete:
DcBackup (the contents of the folder, not the folder itself)
CasPartCache.package
compositorCache.package
scriptCache.package
simCompositorCache.package
In the Thumbnails folder:
CASThumbnails.package
ObjectThumbnails.package
and if you have one, your WorldCache (same process as DcBackup)

Fez,

Look through the Technical Help Board.  There's a topic about how to clean your game.

Yes, thank you Pam. I had seen that one before but was just a little confused as to other files also. I'm silly when it comes to these sorts of things. ::) Thank you for your help, guys.

Just a little addition to CarlosLordofTacos list:

If you're on Mac, do not delete the files from WorldCache. If you're on PC, then you can.
