For repairing handiness a trick is to put broken objects in family inventory to save them for when you have a sim that will supermax handiness

Yes, that's what I did.  My Generation 8 character spent most of a weekend repairing broken objects from the family inventory and by the end of the weekend he had completed his supermax skill.  I think Handiness was the only skill that my Dynasty managed to supermax before reaching YA age.

I forget, was it you that I heard of that idea from?

I have said it before but I will say it again, when it comes to learning skills get started as soon as possible. A lot of skills can be learned as a toddler or child. All of them can be learned as a teen.

Handiness CAN be a pain (as it relies on luck for the repairing dig)
I'm in week 5 or 6 now and all I've had to repair is 4 sinks (no electricals yet)
If you're a hacker though, then you can whack up the electrical fairly easy (as getting a virus is fairly common then you can repair it)

Technophobes can sabotage an electrical appliance I think. Might be something to consider if you have a Spare Sim that has a few extra LTHP lying around.

Martial arts can be a pain - especially the "grand master" and the 150hours of meditation (done it, but also a "any spare time was spent doing it" thing)

I did it all in a 9 Day Trip to China, with a Teenage Sim and a Moodlet Manager.  :)

Cooking is difficult once the "hardly hungry" reward is purchased, but otherwise it's fairly easy (just get the books from WA then sell most of the gems that you find for easy money for Ambrosia)

My last Dynasty Attempts founder Supermaxed Cooking with 35 Servings of Cheese Plates. They are really quick and cheap, did not take her long, Lol.

I don't know.  But I definitely found Handiness the easiest of all the skills supermaxed in my Dynasty.  Not that any of the ones I did were really hard, but some of them took more time.  It didn't help that there were so many travel bugs in my game that I didn't dare take my Dynasty family anyplace unless I wanted to come back with clones and other problems.

Samoht,I am finding Supermaxing really easy in my current dynasty because for the first time I am actually using the moodlet manager. I only used in my first two dynasties to get rid of the sad moodlets when someone died.
As for Supemaxing cooking the first time round I let my Sim make lots of plates of cookies and then my fishermen took them on fishing trips to keep hunger at bay.
The only skill I didn't like to supemax was inventing mainly because you really have to keep an eye on your Sim at all times to make sure they don't burst into flames. With the other skills you can pretty much leave the Sim alone to get on with it. I am not that keen on logic either because it seems to take longer then some of the other skills.

Oh wow, really? I was debating on trying photography for a later gen in my dynasty! Almost immortal, Violet Fleur, is cooking, and Lily Fleur is working on logic. :)

Yep it is really easy, but you really have to concentrate on the challenges

Hmm. Maybe I'll give it a shot, and keep something else open for that gen, in case it falls through. :)

If you don't have Generations and supermaxing logic, you are lucky, my gen 4 can't even finish the potion challenge, she would always get singed!

It would be easy if you weren't getting singed though, just take a shower and send the Sim back to work! For what you have to do it's one of the easiest and more rewarding of the challenges as it comes with perks - the potions. The singed part is just an annoyance really.  :P

Would the firehomestead ltr affect this somehow?

I don't think it does stop singing but it may stop fires, if they can be caused by the set. I've yet to have a fire from it thought if there are.

Yes, the LTR doesn't stop Sims from having chemistry accidents or setting their rear on fire at the inventing bench.
