So, all you people who've had more time to play with it... How is Alchemy to supermax? I'm considering it in my dynasty...

It's way too easy.  I managed to get it done on a non challenge file without trying. The three challenges are make 150 elixirs, throw 50 elixirs at people and learn all 44 recipes which can be done without too many problems.  Most are learned via the alchemy station and 6 or 8 are bought from elixir shop or the bookstore.

Sounds just perfect, then. I can move a few skills around, and maybe see about getting Orchid a new job with what I've freed up, heh...

It may be just luck, but I have just Supermaxed inventing, and only caught alight twice.  I had my sim read to level 10 before buying an ivention bench, then took the efficient inventor reward.

I find that I usually supermax Art, Sculpting and Writing without even thinking about it.  Charisma is very quick and does not reqire any conscious effort if you buy a guitar and play for tips, other than for the 100 jokes.

Not of you have the "Good Sense of Humour" trait.  Without this trait, I would agree, it's a real pain.

Alchemy is possibly THE best skill to supermax, the elixirs make needs much easier to manage, an job boosters make careers easier for other immortals. My Founder supermaxed it at a blistering pace

I personally find Athletic really easy to supermax for me. Just simply put the sim on the treadmill and hits two birds with one stone. I found it also very easy to supermax before my criminal sim was going to work. She supermaxed it before being an elder.
With the moodlet manager, it would be even easier.

The worst has to be guitar, because guitar star is next to impossible to complete without cheating. I'm trying to complete it now but ugggg...sucks when your sim only has one skill.

* Even though that 100 joke challenge is a pain, Charisma is one of the easier skills to supermax.

I found that if you troll the park or library for small kids (meant in a nice way), you can befriend them and queue up a dozen short jokes and have them laughing hysterically. In this way, you can knock out 12 to 15 jokes in a little over an hour... kids have short attention spans... as do I some time. But after you have maxed the skill to ten and used jokes along the way, you will probably still be short about 40-50 jokes. That's when I chat up a few little kids and crank out the jokes. You'll hit 100 in no time.

Is anyone else finding Fishing hard to supermax?

The first challenge of finding all the fish was easy, but it's taking -forever- to catch 350 Fish, and I'm worried my Fisherwoman will die before she gets that challenge done.  Has anyone else found that, or is that just me?

It's time-consuming, yeah. You might want to "inspect water" on their fishing spot periodically and make sure the fish are still jumping - and also, unless you need to catch valuable fish for the fishing career, go for low-end fish - they're easier to catch.

I have NEVER even attempted to supermax, or even have a sim in the writing career, so having a scheduled writer in my Immortal Dynasty is scaring me. Are there any tips for supermaxing writing that more experienced simmers would share?

Neurotic, Hates the Outdoors, and/or No Sense of Humor. Hopefully you have a moodlet manager or motive mobile by then too, just to make things even easier. Getting stressed is definitely the hardest part of writing.

Other than that, it's not that hard, it's just a lot of tedium. For the supermax, anyways. If charisma is a free skill, I'd pop them into Journalism instead as a career. Pam had to do that at the last minute with Forest. The self-employed writing career is certainly possible, since saltpastillen and Rica both did it, but it requires starting them as self-employed from teenagerhood and basically doing nothing else but write.

To supermax writing, I always choose to write children's books (unless EP's I don't own have something quicker), they are quickest to write.

I find supermaxing this way very easy and not at all stressful.    I believe childish makes it even quicker, but, I have never used this trait.  Read the children's books in the library, or buy them (Where's Bella etc.) then write your first children's books.  (Typically I write 3 at a single session).  Then read your own books as they arrive.

Don't forget you will need level 4 art in order to write children's books.  Writing in the libray seems to have a very small effect on speed.  The incense burner from China is a big help.  Make sure your sim has a comfortable chair, and a beautifully decorated room plus any other boasts to mode that you can get easily, such a cosy fire.

I like the ambitious and over-emotional traits as well as bookworm for a writing sim.

The only problem I have encountered with "Self-employed Writer" is the Masterpiece, but you don't have to write a masterpiece to complete the supermax.  If you want to write one though, I would suggest taking your sim abroad with a laptop and writing 95% on vacation. a little each day.  Finish the book when you return home for full credit.

Charisma and Painting are both planned Supermaxes, which throws Journalism and Children's Books out the window! I'm planning on specializing in either Romance Novels or Masterpieces for profit, but then I'm just worried about the Speed Writer challenge. I might take on another Supermax besides Painting, but then I don't want to worry about leveling up my writer in both painting and writing . . . unless it's possible to just level up to level four of the painter skill without gaining any more, which is pretty much impossible since they're always autonomously painting . . . am I rambling?
Anyway, is poetry a good investment? I know there are a few new book types, but do Romance novels and Masterpieces still carry the most profit?

Edit: Non-writing related question--I've been steering away from Gardening and Fishing, since I've never really tried to supermax those skills before and the challenges terrify me. However, I think I may be getting the Stones Throw Greenhouse at some point. Does this make it easier to supermax gardening?
