Thanks! I was pretty satisfied with how hers came out. I was waiting nearly a week to get her in the house and get rid of the horrible dark greenish yellow hair the game gave her.

A Walk In The Sun

The night of my graduation, Gabe and I set off on our first vacation together. We had both been wanting to head to Al Simhara for as long as we both could remember. On our flight over, it was decided that we would spend as much time working towards acquiring our first vacation home. We knew it wouldn't come easy as we had to prove to the locals that our intentions were honorable, we also knew it wouldn't be our first trip that would accomplish our goal.

We were staying at the base camp setup for first time explorers. The people we met here were fascinating, but paled in comparison to young love. Gabe and I were never going to get our vacation house if we didn't start spending a bit of time apart.

With a last lingering look, Gabe made his way to the market to see what artifacts he could bring home for Mercy. He was also determined to find local children and begin his tutoring requirements.

After speaking with a few locals, I found that many of them had menial tasks that needed completing, but not the time to do them. Seeing this as a way to get my foot in the door for my dream home, I offered any assistance I could.

Most tasks were the normal go here and get this, bring it back and all that. Eventually though, I was sent on a chain of tasks that led me into tomb exploring. I really think I've found my passion in life.

Gabe wasn't having nearly as much luck as I was. His desire to teach and fulfill his tutoring requirement was not panning out. No matter how much time he spent teaching children all he knew, it just wasn't being considered. Eventually, he gave up and moved on to snake charming, I really hope he doesn't want to bring that basket home with him.

Just as they say, all good things must come to an end. The next day we were informed by country officials that our visa's were expiring. No matter how much we begged for just a bit more time, they told us there were no exceptions. I decided then and there that since I'd racked up a decent amount of lifetime reward points, I would be purchasing a little something to help with extending our next trip.

We got back home late that night, I don't think anyone was expecting us so soon. Once we set foot in the door, we were bombarded with everyone asking at once for pictures, details and presents. During this Mercy excused herself, seems she's caught a bit of a bug or had her tiberium gems too close to her for too long again.

Gabe politely found an excuse for us to head to bed after all the excitement died down. We were both so tired that I forgot to speak with Sam about teaching me Sim Fu. Apparently, all the talk about Mummies existing is true. I always thought the stuff of legends in movies and books were just that, legends, but after my brief encounter I'm not taking any chances. When I woke up, I found that Sam was out back in his training room, breaking space rock blocks for gems. As soon as I brought up the prospect of him being my mentor, his eyes lit up like a toddler on Christmas morning.

Gabe and I were already deep in planning for our trip back to Al Simhara. This time I was convinced that I could get my dream home and have time to work on furnishing it a bit before we had to head back home. Everyone was so busy with work, hobbies and planning that we forgot dear Ollie's birthday. As usual she was on her way out to greet Gabe as he came home from work, then the sparkles started and an impromptu party commenced.

The next day we were finally able to head back to Al Simhara, we were calling this our second honeymoon even though we hadn't married yet. We also decided that this time, we wanted a bit more privacy and stayed at an out of the way camping area.

I continued on with my tomb exploring, coming ever so close to my goal. Gabe spent a lot of time getting to know the locals, picking up more artifacts for Mercy, books for our extensive library collection and much to my apprehension, he started snake charming again. I saw the joy it was bringing him and left him to his devices, I was only a few tasks away from being able to buy my home so I headed out to scout places for sale. The first day brought me no luck and I was feeling pretty defeated. I knew it had to be a place that was going to pass down through the family for generations to come, we needed space, comfort and most of all a place to just get away.

Since I was already on my way back to town, I decided to start on my next task. On my way driving to the tomb, the sun peaked over a sand dune and glinted into my eyes so brightly that I nearly got in a car wreck. When I was at a stop and calmed down enough, I opened my eyes to look around and saw the house of my dreams. I immediately called Gabe and gave him directions, I was so excited that you would have thought I won the lottery. When Gabe finally showed up it was nearing sunset, we spent around a half an hour exploring the property when we came to notice the view around us. This was most definitely the house for us.

Thanks Deb, I was very happy with how that pic turned out. I think it's one of my favorites from in my game, next to the one of Stefan from the first attempt, when he got his behind lit on fire.

Tree House Hideaway

When we got back from our trip, Gabe discovered his last celestial body needed for one of his logic requirements. Now if only he could manage to make it to the school on time to find someone to tutor.

That morning we also had our first gnome passing. I was out tending the garden for Kylee when I came across the poor thing.

There's definitely something odd going on around our house. Mercy was headed down to our basement/museum to work on her musical skills when she noticed that someone had ran off with Jessie's ice sculptures. After a bit of looking around we noticed that all the ice sculptures in the musem were like this. For some reason unknown to us, they left the base of the sculptures in place.

Ollie has been running off at every chance she can. That old girl sure has a sniffer on her, she's always bringing back something. I think Mercy and her are in cohorts together with the filling of the museum collections.

The day finally came where Gabe and I decided it was time for us to get married. His father, Alfred and Aunt Alexia are getting pretty up there in age and we didn't want to take that away from them. We were both nearing our adult birthdays as it was, though we couldn't work on bringing the next generation into the house, it was time to move on to the next chapter of our lives. As soon as we announced our plans, the house was in utter chaos. There were people on phones making plans, swaths of fabric being previewed on laptops, catering plans, jewelry being drawn up from our own gem collections and the list goes on and on. Gabe and I managed to sneak away and hide in the tree house which hadn't been used since he was a little boy. We felt like little kids hiding away in there, whispering so no one could hear us and make us go back to planning.

Fortunately the day of the big event came faster than we thought it would, thank goodness the planning is over! We just wanted a simple family wedding but we left it in the hands of our family, it would after all be the final big bash for Alfred and Alexia. Of course no Hauptman event goes without some drama. Right before the ceremony was to take place, people started screaming out for a doctor! Luckily, Kylee was there to take care of the ailment.

I wasn't nervous up to this point, I didn't have doubts mind you, just an overwhelming feeling of jitters. It was so bad that as Alfred was walking me down the isle he had to remind me to breathe, of course when I did, I nearly tripped over my own dress. As soon as I was under the arch with Gabe, it all went away. Everything in the background melted into the everafter and there was only us and us alone.

The next morning we awoke to two more gnome passings, the poor things are having an epidemic!

The night was also Kylee's elder birthday, she didn't seem concerned with how it turned out for her. She did say however that it was high time she dyed her hair and she was finally going to do what she always wanted, she was lightening her original hair color!

That's weird about the sculptures! Was it a glitch or did they just melt?
If at first you don't succeed, call it version 1.0.

It's gotta be a glitch, my sim that did them supermaxed sculpting so they shouldn't have melted. I haven't opened my game again since I took those screenshots last week so we'll see if anything's changed later on today.

I never checked to see if they did but, I loaded my game up about an hour ago and they're all back to normal.

Misery Enjoys Company

At the end of the work day, Mercy thought it was going to be a normal night. Go home, transform a few gems, feed the fish, feed the dog and find something to entertain herself until it was bedtime. Walking out the door on her way home, Emmy Starr hunched over and moaned in pain. Before Mercy knew it, Emmy went all shimmery and the sound of Grimm was upon her.

Meanwhile at home, after many years of service as a police officer, Alfred decided it was time to hang up his handcuffs. After a quick call into work, he surrounded by his loved ones cheering at him. In his heart of hearts he knew he wouldn't be around for much longer and he wanted to spend his time with his family.

Later in the week we had a mini surprise party for Gabe, he insisted that he was going to be an adult now and had no need for such things. Mercy wasn't letting him get away with it and we ambushed him in the basement while he was throwing darts.

Good thing we did have a bit of lighthearted fun, the next morning we lost our dear Ollie and from there it was all downhill.

A few nights later it was Alexia's turn to join Grimm. She was sitting on the couch watching the gardening channel with me, sharing tips that she'd learned along her journey.

The next morning we heard a commotion coming from Jessie and Alfred's room. All of us rushed upstairs in fear that Grimm had come yet again but when we opened the door, we found a very distraught Jessie.

With all the mourning that has been going on in the house, Gabe and I decided that we would try to usher in the next generation. We thought that if we could bring a baby into the house it would ease the grief everyone was feeling. So far we're not too sure if it's working. I have been making frequent trips to the bathroom but, it could just be Jessie's pain coming through in the cooking.

About a week after Ollie passed, she made her first visit to us. She didn't come in the house or approach any of, she just wanted to sleep in her old dog house in the front yeard.

That night my pregnancy was confirmed. In the morning I made a trip into Kylee's office for a check up and decided on the spot that I wanted to know what we were having. Gabe has been very supportive and attentive during all this, we still each have our own guilt for trying to be happy during this time. Losing Alexia hasn't been easy on anyone, least of all Gabe.

My pregnancy was fairly normal, I was making trips to the spa every other day and painting to relax. One night during a trip to the spa, I went into labor in the middle of my massage. I quickly called Gabe and told him to meet me at the hospital, luckily I made it into the cab before the labor pains really kicked in. Thank goodness I'm not doing this again!

Introducing little Nikkila Hauptman, she's the apple of her Great Great Grams' eye.

Unfortunately, Alfred didn't have much time to enjoy his granddaughter, he was coming in the house after checking the mail one afternoon when Grimm came calling.

Later that night as Kylee was comforting Jessie in the living room, Grimm decided to be spiteful and came calling for her as well. Poor Jessie, I don't think she'll ever recover losing her husband and stepdaughter in one day.

Two Gifts Are Better Than One

Little Nikkila's birthday came before we knew it. Seems like it was only minutes ago that we brought her home from the hospital and introduced her to the family.

Toddler years are such a rush! There's so much to do in a small amount of time, these are her formative years after all. Gabe set out on the task of teaching her to talk. From the look on her face, he seemed to have started on the really big words first. Luckily, after a while he gave up and started with stuff she was more interested in.

I attempted to start potty training her as soon as possible. Unfortunately, anytime I made an effort to teach her this basic skill, my stomach ended up in rage. Thankfully, she's a fast learner and the training was over nearly as soon as it started.

Teaching Nikkila to walk was a joy, there's nothing like seeing the look on your child's face when they realize they're walking all on their own.

One night I was having the worst time sleeping. My back was aching, I had the worst nausea and I couldn't get comfortable for the life of me. After getting out of bed for the hundredth time, I felt a little kick in my middle. In bewilderment, I automatically grasped my stomach and counted back the weeks. With all the excitement of teaching Nikkila everything we could, we managed to create another little miracle without knowing it.

With another one on the way, it made me want to spend as much time as possible with Nikkila. I knew by the time that this one was born, she would be starting school, making friends and growing up, but I didn't want her to feel that any part of her childhood was missing.

Great Great Grams Mercy came home with a new toy for Nikkila one day, she said it would be wonderful practice for her in the long run. Nearly everyone in the house plays a musical instrument with the exception of myself.

With my stomach starting to show, I knew that I couldn't keep my little secret to myself much longer. I wasn't sure how anyone in the family would feel about us having a second child. It was so hard for everyone losing Alexia, I can't imagine them being too happy with the prospect of repeating history. It was easy enough to get Gabe away from the family for a bit, I caught him outside playing on the water slide in a rare moment of recapturing his childhood. His emotions played over his face so much without his knowing, at least in the end it was all good.

A distant relative that no one in the family has ever heard of sent Nikkila a doll in the mail. At first she was attached to it like her life depend on it, lately she's not so sure of it. She keeps telling Mercy that it talks to her and she wants him to go away. Of course we all thought that Nikkila just had a very big imagination, but from the look I saw on Mercy's face when Nikkila told her the doll's name was Stefan, I'm beginning to have my doubts.

That night, Mercy disappeared from the house, Sam went to bed early and Jessie and Gabe were confused as to why Mercy was upset. I was left alone with Nikkila while they went out searching for Mercy, ready to burst from being pregnant and barely able to get Nikkila into her crib. At some point during the night, I went into labor. By the time I woke up and was out of bed, there was no time to get to the hospital, this little one was being born at home.

I didn't even have time to call Gabe before I was adrift in a wave of pain after pain. Thankfully, this was a much faster birth than before and before I knew it, I had Melina wrapped in my arms as I stared down at her precious face.

Yea, that was a bit of an "uh oh". I selected the wrong option and ended up hearing chimes. At least it'll give Gabe someone to tutor, if I can ever get it to start counting for students.
