I have been growing them, but what are you supposed to do with them?

They are one of the two ingredients (the other being Life Fruit) in Ambrosia. To my knowledge they don't serve any other function. In fact, keeping them in your Inventory has been proven to cause some strange bugs.

You're talking about the Death Flower plant?  Their main purpose is to keep the Grim Reaper from taking your Sim when he dies.  If you have a Death Flower in your Sim's inventory when he dies, he'll take it out and give it to Grim.  Then he'll be restored to life.

This is the Death Fish, not the Death Flower plant.

Death FISH are the second ingredient to Ambrosia. The other being Life Fruit.

A death flower (plant) is supposed to be held in the inventory to give to Grim if your sim accidentally dies. If your sim can hand Grim a death flower he will let them continue to live.

Using a death flower and ambrosia your sim can have no fear of death.

Although I have found carrying a death flower around often causes other game issues.

Ack. Right. I got Death Flower and Death Fish mixed up. I knew a Death Flower did have some purpose and that was the first thing that popped in my mind.
