How long do your Sims typically live? By that, I mean old age.

I just had a couple sims turn to Elder. Is it any time at this point? What changes their death age?

If they're vegetarians, they live longer (at least according to the description). Also, I'm under the impression that they live longer the higher lifetime points they have accumulated during their lives, although I could be wrong, but then some other person will come along here and tell us that, so we won't miss it if it's wrong.

Well, my record was a painter I had that, without life fruit or ambrosia, lived >105 days (normal aging in the options' menu).

They live at LEAST 2 weeks, but after that they could die at any time, the next day or next week. There is no limit.

On normal lifespan, a Sim will typically live to age 90.  There are some who live beyond that, but whether its random or because a healthier lifestyle is still under debate.  My oldest Sim lived to 125 for no apparent reason.

This is precisely why I so often end challenges after 100 days, or after a Sim accomplishes something because if a challenge ended when they hit a certain age, then it would vary too much player to player.

I think they age up at the same time, but die at different points.

I've had some live to be only 90 days and others live to be 100.Most of my sims have maxed out their athletic skill by then(I have heard that this helps prolong lifespans)but I am not so sure about that. Most of the time they max out at around 96 days and then they die.

I think they age up at the same time, but die at different points.

They don't age up consistently. That's why an age-up stopping point for challenges would be too much of an unknown. Create 2 Sims of the same age, opposite sexes, and see how many days they are due to age up. Chances are there will be some variation. I don't know if it's a sex thing or if there's just variety built right into CAS. And mind you, this doesn't bother me. I like variety. It just doesn't work for challenges.

In vanilla game, once a sim hits old age and reaches a certain age (max old age bar i believe), they have a chance to die per day of old age. This chance is affected by two things and ONLY two things:
The lifespan settings (longer settings, lower % chance).
Completing marathon runner challenge (multiply above % by 0.75).

So yes, having a sim complete marathon runner does in fact give it a higher chance of living longer (note, CHANCE, if the RNG hates you, he can still die at the first roll); but a vegetarian sim or an athletic one without the challenge won't have any higher chance than any other regular sim.

Being a mummy also affects lifespan, not entirely sure how.

Really? That's surprising. I mean, the whole point of creating a longer game is to give your Sim more time throughout their life, but I would think once they max out their Elder age bar, whether they are at 90 days or at 960 days, I would think that their chance of dying the very next day would be the same.

Nope, epic lifespan haves a lower chance to die per day than short.

I put the Egyptian family Hawas into Riverview and the grandpa, Sekhmet is currently 805 days old! I guess because he was in Egypt and wasn't playable, he has lived a really long time.

What's his lifespan setting?

I believe you multiply by 1.75 %, otherwise, completing the marathon challenge would be harmful not beneficial.

No, you multiply the chances of dying each day by 0.75, in other words, if you have a 4% chance of dying without it, now you have 3%.
