Oh man it looks like Pam beat me to it. It has once again been awhile since I have checked in. When I saw the Sims Social and started playing I just had to steal a minute to get on and tell you guys. Ok that was an hour ago since I saw it was already here and people were talking. I actually was coming to say that if anyone needed neighbors what better neighbors then each other. I mean we are all practically one big happy Sim family right?
Anyway after reading the thread I see there are lots of different feelings on the deal. I do remember The Sims Online and I was one of the ones who shunned it because I wasn't paying that price when I was already paying for the games I had on my PC. But I think because this is Facebook EA thought it would be different. And I would have to agree. The thought is that you would get your own friends to be into the game or, like myself, come and spread the word to fellow Simmers. However it's no secret that we "spam" to get neighbors. I haven't yet because I already did that for my Cafe World, Happy Aquarium, and Happy Pets so there were already people from that group. And now that I don't play anything but Cafe World I am not liking the overflow of strangers in my friend list. Which is another reason why I ran here to people I kinda feel I already know.
I have to agree with NAPA, as a hardcore simmer I had to check it out. Though I never plan to abandon my undying devotion to TS3 on my desktop, Sims Social is a quick fast way to pass the time. And there's no real strategy or thought required in it so far. I don't know about anyone else but I will not be spending money on anything. If I can't use my free stuff or buy with my earned money in the game then I just won't be having it. I have been guilty of giving money to Facebook (buying pearls in Happy Aquarium) and I refuse to do it again. If it was going to EA that would be different because I do buy SimPoints for items on the official site, but that will be it. But as for the exclusives, so far there's enough stuff for me to work with. I mean I have only played for 24hrs but I don't intend to invest in my house and styles and stuff like I do my true love - PC version.
So far I like the simplicity of it which I think is the point. I'm sure they aren't trying to replace anything. Just spreading the Sim Love to others. I mean if you think about it why would EA miss out on all the fun. There are tons of games on there from outside game companies. Monopoly, Scrabble, Jewel Quest, Card games. Of course Sims had to get in on the action. I refused to play YoVille or Farmville or any of those Ville's but I think EA did a pretty good job. At least I haven't had any of the issues mentioned... Yet.
Ok and finally, I can't put my name on here for two reasons: 1) I don't know how to do that link thing you guys did. And 2) my FB name may get me in trouble with Pam so if you don't already have a link for me to click on and you want another neighbor PM me and I will give it to you.
Missed you guys!!
Oh PS to Carl. I know you say you should do all things Sim. However I wouldn't be upset if you chose to set this one out. There isn't much to really provide secrets or cheats or stuff like that. And the guys on there do a really good job of explaining tasks and things like that. I am not just saying this because I don't see a point in guides for anything but PC.
All I'm saying is if you happen to put that on the bottom of the ToDo List -I mean Pets is just around the corner, I would understand and support you 100%.
