The Sims Social on Facebook
« on: June 23, 2011, 04:23:06 AM »
Has anyone see that there's going to be a Sims game on Facebook?  It's called Sims Social.  I haven't seen much information about it yet, but it's bound to be popular.  Carl is looking to write a Guide for it, which could possibly create a huge increase in traffic for the other Guides, as well as the Forum.

I'd love for everyone to share thoughts and opinions about the new game, as well as any official information that's out there.

I PM'd Pam with this info, because I couldn't post. :(
If you like their Facebook Page, you'll get exclusive content through another Application. It's called "More stuff", or something along those lines.

If it's anything like any other Facebook game, then it will be terrible. Pictures I've seen of it look like the Sims games for mobile phones in game play terms, which is very disappointing but expected. Hey, at least it's not going to be text based like most games on the site!

I'm not too sure about this. Aren't we going to have to pay for stuff with the Facebook Credits? I'd really just rather pay for EPs and SPs for the actual game. I'm not too convinced, but I'll give it a go.

I don't know if we'll have to pay for it.  Isn't Farmville all those other annoying games free?

Don't expect much as far as graphics and animations.  It's not intended to be Sims 3 and it won't be nearly the high caliber game.

Judging by the trailer, the emphasis is less on Sims and more on Social. It looks more like an immersive chatroom than an actual Sims game. That's probably the way to go if it's being targeted to the Facebook crowd, but I get the feeling it's not going to provide much for us established Simmers. At least the cartoony graphics are cute. :)

EDIT: Seabody, do you know if this "exclusive content" is for the Sims 3 or Sims Social?

Farmville and everything is free. The exclusive content in farmville isn't. Those cost facebook credits or farmcash. The cash name changes depending on whatever game it is. I haven't seen the trailer for it. I am interested on how it will draw the crowd away from Yoville. Yoville is huge. It's kind of along the same lines.

Farmville and the likes are free but to get anywhere you either have to pay cash or have lots of friends who play it and you gift each other the items. I'm playing Farmville now and whilst I'm enjoying it it frustrates me that I need like a million friends to make it worth it, especially as most of my facebook friends don't play any of the games like farmville.

I tried getting onto the sims social but the load screen kept on freezing for me.

That is why I stopped playing Facebook games so much. You needed to spam people with a ton of requests to get anything done. I didn't realize the game was up already. I will go check it out now.

I for one will probably not play it.  It is basically what Ausette said, emphasizing on social and chatroom.  Your right Pam, the graphics are terrible and of course that is expected.  I am not saying it is a bad game, but not my cup of tea, but that is my opinion.  This game is where you can meet other people in the chat room and sort of reminds me of a dating site, but with little pixels. :)

Doh. Well it's not exactly what I was hoping it would be then. I suppose I will cover it since it seems my lot to tackle most anything Sims universe these days, but it will probably just expose to more people that it's not very interesting.

It sounds to much like IMVY, or whatever that game is called, and with that I mean: teenystyle, which is absolutely not my thing. I saw pictures about it too and it doesn't looks simish anymore, more a flat 2D style just (again) like IMVY.
Sorry guys, my first opinion is negative. But... I am sure a lot of girls will like this so yes, it will atract a lot of trafic. Writing a guide for it would therefore probably be wise.

Okay, I PM'd Ausette with this, but at this stage, I can't say what the exclusive content is for. The email I received just said that by liking their application, you can unlock exclusive content with the "More to Like" application. I think the content is for The Sims Social.
