Bridgeport's Eternal Rest Cemetary
« on: June 22, 2011, 04:03:20 PM »
I can't stand doom and gloom graveyards.  This particular one is a mega challenge because of the sloping land and my aversion to vampires.  So I did away with the resident vamp and turned his cozy little nook into a cozy little down time place for gravediggers to relax and take away some of the somberness of their job.  I still think it's a work in progress, (but aren't most empty cemetaries?,lol), but here's my best shot for now.  It can be obtained here:  http://launcherapi.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=4244039

I was going to take an overhead shot and do more screenies but kicked out of the game before I saved so will have to download my own build. lol

To explain the photo:  The grey stairs lead to the crypt.  I wanted this to be less obvious so left the stairs and walkway to the crypt a darker color.   It works when you are really there.  There are paved paths leading to the gazebo and some of the grave sites.  You can't see them because of the green shrubbery.  I added another mausoleum to help balance.

To do this build I had to move/remove almost everything except the gazebo, crypt and center area with the statue.  Not everything in a city is a uniform ash grey, particular in a cemetary where things tend to be kept up better.  So I lightened all the stone work and added trees, shrubs and flowers as well as that huge fountain.  In order to make it all work, after moving everything, I terraced the entire area into four levels.  I worked from the top placing graves, bushes, etc. and then went to the next level down.  When these two were done I smoothed the edges of the top area so it was hilly, but no longer sharply terraced, (and ugly).  Once I smoothed the second row I realized I did not need the last bit of terracing so just used my handy terrain tool, smoothed everything, added the pond, (originally it was where the fountain is) and a few more trees.  Had I not gotten rid of the coffin in the crypt and changed it to something whimsical, I could not have continued to work in BP.  Vampires seriously creep me out.

What?  Grannies can't play games?

So it doesn't have the vampire bar underground? :'( You know, Joria, it really attracted some people, including me.. But it is incredibly done! I am loving the new settings - though BP is a graveyard itself, lol. Well done, will you put it in the new BP? I believe yes. ;D
Well, that's your opinion, isn't it? And I'm not about to waste my time trying to change it. - Lady GaGa

It has a bar, and it's pretty simple to change it back to be more vampirish.  I just really can't deal with vampires.  Worse than spiders and if you ever want to see a grown, elderly, overweight, woman start screaming and acting like she's insane, just mention spiders to her.  No matter how small they are I KNOW they are out to get me and I start screaming.  Fortunately my very tolerant hubby never laughs at me.  He just kills them.  Funny thing though, outside in the yard they don't bother me much, (unless they are on me).    Yes, it's in BP.  IDK, the whole idea of drinking with a coffin right there in the dark, underground, with an undead inside it just is too freaky for me.  I creep out very easily so no horror flics for me.

You won't believe me but I do hate spiders too. And yes, I am scared of them too. Great thinking. Yeah, it's spooky now that I think about it. Thanks!
