Sim not come back from free vacation

Not sure if this is the right forum to put this in but as it's a feature that comes with generations then I thought I'd come in here. One of the children had just aged up into a teen and I got the message that the parents had won a free vacation, so off they went. 2 days later I get the message saying that the parents were due back in 2 hours. When that time had passed the dad had come back but apparently the mum is still away on vacation and her icon is still grayed out. Has anyone else had this? Is she going to come back but just later? I've not done anything with the game as yet but unfortunately even if I quit without saving, my last save is just as they're about to go off on vacation anyway so I'm not really going to be able to prevent it.

Are you able to click on the mother's picture in the relationship panel?  When I had a child at boarding school and her icon was grayed out, I had the option to click on her in the relationship panel and bring her home.  Maybe the same thing happens with the vacation.

I've tried clicking on her but nothing happens, I'm just can't select her at all

I guess the only thing to do is see if she returns in a couple of days.  You might still be able to retrieve a previous save by following these instructions.

That's what i thought Pam. I quit without saving in the end as I had to finish playing the game so I will see if there's some way I can stop her going when I next play, if not I will continue for a few days and see what happens.

I was curious too as to whether anyone else had experienced such a problem. Thanks for the link re. save files.

Just experienced the same problem. My teen had a blast though. For 3 days she egged houses, skipped school and there was no parent to yell at her so she got some good moodlets. However, I will have to restart because I never saved a copy elsewhere. At least my sim had fun.

Interesting to hear that someone else has experienced it, but sorry at the same time to hear that you have MoMoll. I wonder if it's a glitch?

I replayed the game last night and the same thing happened again so i will have to try to cancel the free vacation action when i next go into it.

I'll remember to save a copy next time. But I must admit I played just the teen for a few days and without a parent she hadd free range. Reminds me of when my parents left and my sister (just got her license) and I went drag racing in the new family car!

I've read now that this is a bug in the game.  With some luck, it will be fixed in a patch.

Yes Pam, I just popped on to say that I'd been reading on the official forum that other people had been having the same problem. I went back into my game again to try to cancel the free vacation but unfortunately because I'd saved after having already accepted the offer of a free vacation it wouldn't let me cancel it so off she went again, never to return! As you say hopefully it'll will be fixed in the patch. And yes, the teen did have a good time!
