Missing money after trip

Once again, SIAP, but...

My sim traveled to France, and, when he got back, all of the items in his inventory were still there, but he was missing about 6,000 simoleons.  That's an awfully expensive trip.

I haven't encountered that and I've been travelling but must admit I didn't bother looking at the money as the family has way more than they ever need.

I came across this bug last night in my game, but in addition to some money missing, my Sim lost several items she had purchased as well as several items that were in her family inventory.  She also lost the home she purchased in France. 

I saved the game during several points while she was on vacation and I tried several different things before she went home but nothing helped. 

Tonight I am trying a vacation in a different country and hopefully it will be OK.

Sorry to be off topic, but shouldn't this be in the World Adventures section?

Anyways, I do not have Generations (hopefully soon) or WA but I would carefully follow your sims in France to make sure they aren't spending money without your command and check other countries too like mtglady said. Hope you can find a solution!

As with mtglady, I also lost all the money my sim acquired and some of the things she bought while on vacation in China. I noticed that things that went into the family inventory disappeared on return home, but everything in the personal inventory was OK.
Like goat, I too felt the vacation was rather expensive, in my case, my sim had been rewarded over 10,000 simoleons while in China.  
While this seems like a WA problem, it was the generations update that spawned the issue.

I am not really sure since I downloaded both at the same time. 

Sim reached level 3 in Egypt last night and didn't come back with his vacation home in tact either as well as losing two chests that he purchased (they go into the family inventory).  He also arrived home with less money than he left Egypt with - approximately $5150 less.  Maybe he lost it while on the plane ride home?

That's strange because my sims ended up with a free trip. Since I had read this thread, I sent my sims to China. They had 82,000 when they left and while in China I saw it registered as 77,000; but, when they returned they were back to 82,000.
