Moving problem
« on: June 21, 2011, 04:00:25 AM »
I tried to move my family from their not-quite-big-enough house to something bigger. I found a suitable property in the bin, popped it down on an appropriate site, which it fitted perfectly and tried to move them in. That is where it went pear-shaped. The processing thing went round and round and.. you get the picture? The game gets stuck right there, I even went away and left it for a few minutes but no still going round etc. I have successfully moved other families with no problem, the site was designated residential I cannot understand it. Has anyone got any thoughts?

I've had this happen from time to time, but don't know what really causes it.  I closed my game manually using the Task Manager (ctrl-alt-delete) and sometimes I was able to make it work the next time I opened my game.  Do you have any third party custom content or mods installed?  That could make a difference as well.

This happened to me once. I wanted to move into a specific house, but it would always get stuck the way you described. I reloaded the game several times and it only happened with this house. And yeah, no amount of waiting will take that loading screen away, I left my game on and went to do something else and it was still there...

The problem solved itself pretty soon; I kept playing a few sim days, saved the game again and then moved to this house without any problems. I cannot offer any explanation why the problem just disappeared and why it wouldn't let me move on that earlier save (I truly tried many times) but this is what fixed it for me. :)

The utterly long loading times are also sometimes PC problems. Mine are awfully long, but I do know that it is because of my low-end laptop. And I do not have any mods, a little CC (facial) though. :-\
Well, that's your opinion, isn't it? And I'm not about to waste my time trying to change it. - Lady GaGa

No mods no cc, I've tried 3 times so far. Maybe persistance pays off, thanks everyone, I'll give it another go.

I know I'm ressurecting a semi-old topic, but due to link hopping (clicking links related to a specific subject), I've stumbled across a solution.

BUG: Endless Moving Mode

Problem

1.I wanted to move a sim/family but now the little circle spins endlessly and I can't do anything.
2.I wanted to move a Sim which he did successfully but now I can't use build or buy mode because I'm getting a message that I'm in moving mode. It's been awhile since my Sim has moved.

Cause

1.There are a few causes for this bug. It could be because of too many items in your inventory or a faulty download (also Store items). Pangu's Axe is also known to cause this bug.
2.Your family is stuck in a permanent moving situation probably because of a bugged sim.

Solution
Make sure to save before every move (also when getting married) under a new name (save as). This way you have something to go back to. Never save during a move.

For both bugs you can reload an old save game.

1.Delete some of the stuff in your sims inventory or move without your furniture (move everything you want to keep into the family inventory. If you have a Pangu's Axe on the wall, move that to your family inventory as well (save before doing that because Pangu's Axe likes to disappear on you)
2.None

I would link to the site, but it features mod names, links to download, and links to mod sites. I will say that the writer seems to be well known and links back to the Guide.
