I think the problem with this debate is that people are confusing low impact with no impact. There are 0 traits that have no impact. Even never-nude changes the person's clothing slightly.

I agree with deep sleeper being up there. Yes, you sleep through burglars and fires, which happen, what, once every 30 sim days?

Clumsy, certainly.

Absent-Minded, I'm not sure how often the people drop the tasks, but if it's only like, once a day, I'd put it up there, but probably not top 5.

As for unlucky, besides the death thing, does this do ANYTHING? Because, if a trait could be replaced by merely a death flower, I'm fairly certain it should be considered top 5 low impact.

Oh, and what about commitment issues? I haven't done much experimentation, but to give a wish every once in a while to quit jobs/dump your partner, which you can ignore because the wishes have low LTHP values (I think?), that sounds pretty low impact to me.

I love the unluck trait, i only give one Sim in the house it and let them do all the repairs. True, they will die after one shock but are always brought back to life by my good pal Grim.

A Sim with the Handiness trait will be able to repair everything without getting electrocuted at all.

Well, guess what? I just proved that's not 100% always true. For the very first time for me, a Handy Sim was electrocuted. And it was none other than Zeus in the nectar challenge while he was fixing a nectar machine. I thought it was interesting that he did not receive the singed moodlet. Maybe that's a side benefit of being Handy.

Hmmm.  Maybe I interpreted it wrong.  A Sim with the Handiness skill should never fail at repairing an object.  I took that to mean that electric items won't cause electrocution because the Sim would successfully repair it.

I couldn't believe it myself. Maybe it was a bizarre fluke. If there still is a chance of a Handy Sim being electrocuted it's obviously incredibly rare.

This is true, although the other qualifier is that we all play the Sims differently (seeing as its appeal is the open gameplay), and so, depending on how you play, different traits are considered low impact.  We could probably run a poll to get a majority opinion of the 5 lowest impact traits, but we wouldn't come up with a result that applies to gameplay across the board.  It's kind of interesting to hear all the pros and cons of a trait debated in this way, along with what else you could use to gain the same gameplay effects.

Maybe this 'data' could be put up on the main site somewhere? A kind of Pro vs Con list for traits with a list of alternatives?

Carl's plate is over full right now with other projects, so I don't know how long it would take him to get something like this posted.

Did a quick test on vegetarian regarding learning non-meat recipes. Made a lvl 10 cook with vegetarian and gave her all recipes.

Result: the "vegetarian option" is just a name change, the dish's ingredients do not change and still require patty/links/meat/fish. Bah, so much for my hope of non-death-fish ambrosia.

It's just hillarious to when bad things happen to good people.

I think I have some free time next week, I'll try get as much data together as I can.
If Carl doesn't have the time, I think it's our duty to help him out a little  ;)

Just curious, but how would you go about collecting the data?  Isn't the relative gameplay impact of the various traits at least to some degree subjective?

Most traits add something to every game.
Like how the family oriented trait gives wishes for being with family.
These things are facts and can be 'collected'.

Wether or not it adds to your specific gameplay is a matter of opinion.

Ah, I think I get the idea now, I think.  You're planning on coming up with a list of exactly what effect each trait on the gameplay?  If so, I think that's a smashing idea!

Yep, that's exactly the plan. Maybe it will help people in making their sims
