Hi all,

My partner and I have been playing Sims 3 on the ps3 and having a blast, however we seem to have encountered a bit of a bug. We have three adults and two children in the household, and none of them will automatically come home after work or school. Instead, they will stay visiting their workplace/school. If you try and cancel that action, it re-pops. The only way to fix it is to direct them to come home, or to set up an activity while they are at work. This can get quite frustrating due to the fact we have so many sims to keep an eye on, and its easy to miss someone wasting away at their workplace!

I've searched various forums for help, and have tried the following:
 - Reset each sim using the L2 and X button. Nothing.
 - Queuing up an activity for each sim to do when they get home. This worked for someone on another forum, apparently their sims started acting normal again, but for us, nothing.
 - Going to the location the sim is at. Often they are just sitting round reading a book, even if their other needs aren't being met, such as hygiene, bladder etc.

As you can imagine, this is getting pretty frustrating. If anyone knows of a solution or can offer ideas, my partner and I would be eternally grateful.

Please forums members, you're our only hope!

Hamish

Do they go to school/ work in their own vehicles? Sometimes Sims might think they have some free-time after work to do what they want. Also what do you have your Sims "free-will" set on? Lastly, I'm sure this will vary, but what are their mood-lites upon going and leaving to/ from work?

Only one of my sims has a car and I'm pretty sure she doesn't take it to work. All the others use the transport provided.

I understand the free time thing, and thats what I thought it was initially, except that they are all doing the same thing and not coming home. Plus they are visiting these locations for way too long in my opinion.

Their free will is set at the highest, so they should be fairly self sufficient and not need instructions for everything.

As for moods, it does vary, quite a bit. But generally they are happy.

I did alter the structure of the house, I'm wondering if I've done something that makes them not be able to come home due to that, as it did cause one of the kids to get stuck in bed repeatedly.

Thanks for your suggestions, any other thoughts you have would be greatly appreciated  :)

I'd like to assist, but I have no clue honestly. The same issues occur to me often where they won't come home, but on some days they come home right away. It's usually when they are exhausted from a stressful day at work/school. You could try letting your Sims go to work/school an hour before the car pulls up (when the carpool is arriving soon shows up).

It's just an ideal, I figured if they go earlier then perhaps they'll want to come home on time? Good luck though. Hopefully you'll collect a solution.

Oophs, just another thought. What exactly did you do to alter your house? Did you remember to set one of the doors in your home as the front door? So before you altered the house they came home on time, correct? Have you tried setting things back to how they were prior to the recent changes you've made? Seems very tedious, but might be worth at shot. Or have you tried moving?

Huh? Oh, I'm sorry about that. Also, I'm guessing double-posting isn't against the rules here, if it is, I apologize for that aswell. Since other (most) Forums I'm on have issues with double-post. I'll briefly read over the rules here again just for a reminder.

Cheers for the further suggestions. I have set the front door as "the front door", but that didn't seem to help. I've had one of my guys come home automatically since, but that's been it. I seem to be suffering from a few glitches at the moment to be honest, the opportunities aren't expiring either.

We are due to move soon though, just saving up money for somewhere better, so maybe that will help. Until then, I just have to keep manually setting tasks for my guys to do while they are at work so they come home to do them. Maybe I'll try loading an old save game though, just to see if that changes anything as well ......

You're welcome.

If you've found a solution(s) would you mind sharing it? Seldom, I have this same problem occuring. I'm sure other lurkers might find your advice hintful atleast, even if they don't fix the problem entirely. I play on 360 by the way, and I'm sure that there's "little" differences between the two consoles, but most likely both will have similar issues.
