I hardly ever get babysitters, and I pretty much just move in servants. Sure, it costs more money, but you end up spending less than paying 50 bucks to "care" for your children. (I guess I'm unlucky cause I get bad babysitters.) Food actually doesn't cost anything...just do gardening and make that surprise stuff and autumn salad...

Of course you can choose for that. The babysitter will take care of your kid when you just don't have the time, but I highly recommend to let her parents (or another sim that lives on the same lot) look after her, too. The babysitter will take care of her, as I said before, but that is just all he or she does. When the baby grows up into a toddler, you need to read books with her yourself to give her a head start in some skills. Besides that, if you don't have the time for that, just let the little one play with the toys that give the kid some head start, too.

I normally have enough Sims in my household that taking care of the little ones is easy.  Plenty of aunts, uncles, or siblings are usually around to take care of everything.  It really is rare that I call a babysitter at all.

Nice. I get the idea you play it the same way as I do, having such a huge family. Just to be curious: do you use the phone to let a sim call you when they are done with painting or writing or so when you pay attention to another sim? I've find that just THE way of taking care of huge families besides the all powerfull P(ause) button.

Mostly my elder sims take care of the little ones, because they can teach better, especially when they have maxed out their Logic and ability to teach others.

I had a really good experience with Candy Ashleydale, however she is a kleptomaniac, so that can be a problem

I also had this really good babysitter who I got in generation 5 or 6, but she wasn't a descendant of anyone I know of. Also, I fired Kate and the male maids and my third (who is really good and not klepto) doesn't appear to be related to anyone and I can't find her anywhere on sims wiki (she's black, but not monika morris or any people I know), so does the game just produce random sims when you go through all the (2) babysitters or maids?

PS These are both from dynasties in Sunset Valley

Yeah, the game will make new babysitters when the original babysitters die.

I have to agree that Candy Ashlydale (sp?) is an excellent babysitter. My family has used her several times and she has always done a good job. To my knowledge she has never stolen anything either. :)

Just make your adult sim joke about children with the babysitter. That way you'll be able to determine whether or not they're family oriented sims. If they are, you probably won't have any problems.
