The Grisby Family. Also Genetics.
« on: January 23, 2010, 03:36:51 AM »
Those who play in Riverview probably know this family.  They are possibly the ugliest Sim family I've seen.  They have big long noses, huge ears, and droopy eyes.  One of my level 10 surgeons married Laurel Grisby, the daughter of Walter and Yvette.  He's very handsome and married the ugliest girl in town.  And I just want to tell everyone that those features are very dominant!  All four of their kids have those same features!  Even when they were toddlers!  Except I think maybe one doesn't have the huge ears.  It's just hilarious!  I'm going to have the kids multiply as much as possible when they grow up so I can see those faces everywhere.

Maybe it would be a nice challenge to try to get as attractive sims in 10 generations with this family!

I kind of like the Grisbys. Yeah, they all should be called trophyheads but there is something kind of endearing about those huge ears and crazy noses. I have one sim who is best friends with both Walter and his wife, and they hang out together all the time.

I have not been brave enough to try and put any of them into any of my legacies, though. I wonder how many generations it would take to slim down those ears.

The daughter, Laurel, has been a good wife and mother.  And it helped a little when I put some makeup on her.  But her kids sure did get those features!

Wow, this family would be PERFECT for an uglacy! I don't play much in Riverview, so I haven't noticed this family, but this just seems hilarious to me! I definitely have to check this out more!

Just going through all the old posts and came across this, just wondering if you still play this family and and did their facial features ever change to good looking ones.

That sucks Pam! But even ugly and fat people need love too! I just had one of my son's marry Antonia Ursine (Jared and Claire's daughter) and she was HUGE! I had the body sculptor available and used it on her before they tried for a baby. I'll let you know if the kids are fat too, but they shouldn't be considering my son wasn't and she was skinny when she got pregnant.

Does the genetics care what shape she was in during pregnacy? Seems a little illogical if you ask me.

Hmm, I assumed that the genetics worked by taking into account the sims shape at CAS. So that if a fat sim worked out, got pregnant, there is still a high chance that the kids may be fat. For BBII I had a medium build, medium muscular guy, and the mum was on the plumper, curvier build. The children were a mixture from being fatter than the mother to thinner than both mum and dad.

Hmmm, maybe I could do a bit of testing...

I made a sim fat in CAS made her lose the weight then when she aged up and had a party she ate all the left over food and got fat again.

It is a toss up, but chances are if you made a sim heavy and even slimmed them down, you still have a good chance of heavy kids, it is already in their genetics, because if you notice, you have to have them work out every day to keep them thin, miss a few days and they are heavy again.  I have a family like that, both parents on the heavy side and no matter what I did, the kids were all heavy, except one, (out of 12, mind you), so it is defenitely genetics.

I did some experiments on this awhile ago.  Unless it's changed, the genetics at the time of conception are what goes to the new baby.  I had a fat Sim get pregnant while fat and her child was fat.  She lost weight and became skinny and got pregnant again.  That child was skinny.  I've always had that same result.
