How do you get another sim to drink a potion?

If I'm out at the park and I wanted to get someone to drink I potion I have how do I get them to drink it?

I haven't played with potions yet.  What happens if you just click on it in your inventory?

You get the options to drink it, mix it into a drink or give it as a gift.

I've tried giving it as a gift but they just take it and thank me for it but they don't drink it.
After it mixing it into a drink you have the options to give it as a gift or drink the mysterious drink and giving it as a gift does the same thing as giving the potion.

I've tried to drag the potion and the drink to sim I wanted to drink it but it won't let me give it to them that way.

Perhaps, haven't tried it yet, you need to offer the drink. I've had parties where I offered drinks, and at parties I've gone to I opened a bottled of nectar and offered drinks. So it may be the same way. Haven't tried it, but it makes sense.

Maybe their hunger needs to be low?

On the other hand, you can eat while full. Though it does give the 'stuffed' moodlet. Or maybe they'll drink it once they have nothing to do?

I did read somewhere (think it was on the loading screen of Sims 3) that if you mix the potion into a drink and just leave the drink somewhere a Sim will eventually come along and drink it.  Similar to if you whip up a batch of drinks at the bar or pour some nectar.

Although I haven't tried this out myself.  Hope this helps

I had my sim make a potion into a drink and give to the wife as a practical joke. It went straight to her inventory and I had to have her drink it, so I think they do eventually but not when you actually want them too.
