My Sim has BAD taste
« on: January 21, 2010, 09:00:57 PM »
My Sim has been doing heaps of fishing and had a want to cook something using Swordfish.  Now the fridge is stocked with quite a bit of fish, and I didn't think to take it out first.
I had him cook sushi, thinking he would automatically use the swordfish, instead he cooks up SNAIL sushi!  ::)  OMG what was he thinking!!  YUCK

That's weird, and reminds me of something I have been meaning to ask. Is there anyway to prevent your sim from taking items from the fridge to cook food that you want to keep for fishing or gardening? This would answer your problem too, but I've noticed this with my legacy and it would help save some real life time in the challenges (it just takes time to take all the ingredients out of the fridge then put them back in). I don't think buying a second fridge would work, and keeping the food in your inventory won't work either, right?

I don't think anyone has really determined whether a Sim takes food from the refrigerator or the inventory first when cooking.  There's been a lot of discussion about it, but nothing definite ever came out.  As for having a second refrigerator, that won't work either.  When you have two refrigerators, they are portals to one another.  Whatever is in one is also in the other.

I've not got any experience with the cooking side of things, but would using one of the World Adventures chests work?  I know I've stuck a load of stuff in there that I don't want my Sims to autonomously use from their inventories.  I heard food doesn't spoil in them either?

It's even funnier, because he could have had swordfish, lobster, crawfish, trout, minnow, salmon, tuna or herring :)

In France everybody eats snails. It sounds horrible but they're actually very tasty. It's what they call the French kitchen.

That is funny! Sushi made of snails just sounds plainly wrong because they're not meant to be served that way (with seaweed and everything), are they? Not in any way I've ever heard of.

French kitchen, pwhea! Swedish kitchen is tastier IMO! ;D Anyone here have had Swedish fermented herring? Now that's delicious!

Try them.
Just make sure you have a good chef to prepare them. They are tasty. :)
I had them when I was with a friend in Paris. They just ordered them for me when we were out for dinner. I didn't get much choice but to eat them. First bite was a bit weird, was expecting something yucky. But after I actually tasted it, I enjoyed the rest.

I have been to Sweden and I like the country and the lifestyle but I really do NOT like fermented herring. Where I live, in Holland, we eat herring which is acutally fresh. And there is nothing wrong with the french kitchen, as the game shows: You can actually go to France and eat frog legs and snails, but you are not able to go to Sweden and eat fermented herring.

You're right. I always store my grapes, life fruit etc. for nectar making in chests so I don't have to be afraid that my sims actually make cranerlet salad...

My first perfect recipe in the Perfectly Happy challenge was lime pancakes.  Now those, I want to try.

I actually like the French cuisine, and that was actually a kind of a joke since fermented herring is considered to be a such acquired taste that only about 10% of the ethnic Swedes actually likes it anymore (were much more in the past), and very few foreigners. I love it, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were few of those that likes it here in an internet forum! ;)

Hmmm...well maybe one day.  I don't mind trying things at least once, which I had to do when I visited Japan...ate a lot of raw seafood  :o .  Somehow snails just never sounded appealing to me...

especially if you see one trying to get away... :D

My poor Sims haven't made frog legs yet...I guess the thought of cooking frogs makes me squeamish too.  :P
