Learning Martial Arts... In FRANCE!
« on: January 21, 2010, 12:04:58 AM »
So I noticed there is a practice dummy as well as a board breaker on the upper floor of the Museum D'Arte (or whatever it's called).

Has anyone else used this to learn/improve their Martial Arts skill?

And am I the only one who finds it ironically funny to learn Martial Arts in an Art Museum?

Wow. If a Sim can actually learn the martial arts skill in France that would have a real implication in the nectar tourney for someone obtaining the rare grapes. Personally, I'm sticking to my original game plan with no rare grapes. But, that's interesting info, Eftyen. Did you see if your Sim can actually use it because if it's just on display maybe that's not the case?

You can use the equipment in the Museum. My adventurer sim who first found them already knew Martial Arts, but i see no reason why another sim should not learn it that way. It will take a while to get to level 5 though to be able to teleport, so i doubt it will make much of a difference in the nectar tourney.

If you have a sim with the disciplined trait you will hit lv 5 soon enough to zeneport to the island with the rare grapes.

Yes, I started learning martial arts on it.

My Sim didn't have time to get to skill level 5 with it before returning home, however - he had been busy doing adventures and found this while trying to figure out why the museum guards kept abandoning their posts.

Why would you waste a trait on disciplined?

I don't even know why anyone would waste their time on the rare grapes in the first place.

Because, other than Green Thumb, no other trait increases nectar value in any way;
But i can't answer the second question T_T

I haven't decided on my traits, but I'm fairly certain that I'd rather have deep sleeper than disciplined for that reason.

I mean, it can't make you money and it's not going to do anything besides POSSIBLY give you those grapes (and subsequently waste time you could be using to increase your nectarmaking skill and make a few bottles.

You never waste a trait on anyone (except unlucky, they're such outcasts), all sims should have their own personality (given that kleptomaniac is a given one).

Wouldn't klepto let you get the nectar making machines for free?. And the training dummy, and art, and a car to do everything faster while in france, and free starting nectar racks, and a top end tv & stereo...
Meditation *could* provide a bonus on nectar-making, has anyone done any hard math & testing about the meditation speed bonus?.

Even the unlucky trait has a benefit.  If the unlucky Sim dies of an accident, Grim Reaper won't take him/her.  He says something about it's too amusing to watch all the bad luck that befalls the Sim and restores him/her to life.  I flipped the first time I saw it happen!

Yeah, I'm aware of that effect Pam, but isn't there an almost identical one for the loser trait? And with that, you don't have increased risk of burglars and such either!

No, we've been able to confirm that the Loser trait isn't spared by the Grim Reaper.

He, well, I guess you learn something new every day! Maybe I just had heard it from rumours, but I had never tested it myself! :)
