I Don't Understand After School Activities
« on: June 07, 2011, 12:43:03 PM »
I signed all of my Teen sims up for after school activities, but on the days they're supposed to have them, they just stand around the school! What do I do? :-\

Mine automatically go to their activities on their scheduled days.  The children did the same when they went to scouts/ballet - I didn't have to prompt them at all.

Are you sure they actually have an activity scheduled on that particular day or that they aren't being rebellious and are just plain ditching?

But even if I click on the school, there's no option to make them go to the Activity.

But even if I click on the school, there's no option to make them go to the Activity.

Like I said, mine go automatically.  Click open the Career panel, then click on the history icon (I think this is what it is called).  That should show you the after school activities and I think you can click on the button to force them to attend (much like you click for them to go to work/school).

If this is confusing, let me know and I will post a picture when I am in the game.

I had the same problem as Simstar3  my children went to ballet/scouts and got badges and trophies etc, they went into the school rabbit hole by themselves (no prompting from me) no problem.  But after ageing into a teen they were signed up, but stood outside the school (did homework, chatted etc)  even on the correct days, and I pressed the 'send them to school/work" button mtglady was talking about but nothing happened and instead I got a message (I forget exactly what it said but something like...)  'you must be at school to do this'.  And I was.  However the teens still got called to a ceremony where I managed to pick up a couple of trophies for 'job well done' even though I had never been.

glitched perhaps?

:)

I haven't actually looked at my teens while they were doing after-school activities as I had much better things to do with other members of their families.  I do know the icon at the top left showed the school and the green bar was moving so I assumed they were actually attending the activity.

I am going to have to check that out shortly when I load up the game.  If they are standing around I might have to ground them from their cars - lol!

Sometimes the teens will go on a field trip. If that happens then they won't go to their after school activities.

Guess they have increased the freewill too much. Teens will be teens (meaning: they are rebellious and can't be controlled! LOL!). Don't have a teen in the game yet and am wondering how it will play out. My own teens gave me gray hairs!

I've had the same problem with the after school activities. The teens don't go, and when I click the button under the school/work tab, it tells me that teens must first go to class. They were at school, free will is off, no field trips, and they don't make it to the after school activities. I've even tried queing the activity up before they get out of school, and it stays in the que until school is finished, and then it disappears, and I get the same message about kids needing to be in class first.

Have you used the Edit Sim in CAS cheat lately? I believe I encountered a similar issue when I aged a Sim through this cheat. :)

If no, then I'm out of ideas. Hopefully someone else will be able to help.

Sorry, I did look at my teens and just forgot to post.

My teens have all attended their afterschool activities unless they had a field trip or if they were having one of their moody days.  If your teen has a part-time job they will also not attend.  My free will is always on so I am not really sure what is going on with your teens Catarra.  Did you check to see if their school performance is good?  Maybe if they are not 'A' students then they are not allowed to do after-school activities.

If I think of anything or if I find a teen that is weird (and yes I know teens are normally weird) then I will let everyone know.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I decided to check up on one of my Teens, while he was supposedly doing his after school activities, and I was surprise to see him in the back of the school doing homework.

At least he's doing something constructive.  ;D

I had that problem when on the day that my sim aged up from child to teen, it also got the prompt that there was going to be a field trip the next day and I gave permission for the sim to go.  But since the sim was no longer in elementary school - it didn't go on the field trip, however every day after that it treated every day like a field trip day so the teen never went to its after school activities.
