Midlife Crisis
« on: June 05, 2011, 05:21:26 PM »
My male sim just got a midlife crisis after aging up.
He's constantly at the mirror looking at his wrinkles, and has rolled wishes to cheat on his wife, get a stylist makeover, and break up with his wife. I didn't promise the last one. It's pretty funny. ;D

I managed to complete four wishes (sadly not the big ones - move to a new house and buy an expensive car). I ended up with a +25 moodlet for 10 days - I'll take that. :)

Does anyone know about what the chance is of getting a midlife crisis? I've had two sims hit their Adult birthday, and one had a crisis but the other didn't.

The male sims's wife didn't get one either.
Maybe it's kind of like the chance of getting an imaginary friend?
Or maybe how happy they were during YA stage. :-\

I believe either Metro or Carl decided that it was completely random. It was written in the guide for it.

My sim rolled, to the best of my recollection:
- Cut or Dye Hair
- New clothes
- Move to a new house
- Buy a car over 10,000 simoleons
- Buy something over 1,000 simoleons
- Become more muscular

...and, yes, spent a lot of time autonomously checking out her wrinkles in the mirror and sobbing about it afterwards.

My Legacy Sim got the midlife crisis. She was elated at the time she aged up so it's definitely not mood related as to which ones get it. Her husband was at the Adult stage already when they got married so he never got it.

So far only two wishes for her:

- Get a makeover
- Get divorced

I did the makeover one which was easy as one of her wedding presents was that makeover station. The divorced one, no. She's family oriented and I figured it would be a huge mood drain on her and the rest of the family if they did get divorced. If she wants to cheat I might do that though. :)

Mid-Life crisis wishes
« Reply #10 on: June 16, 2011, 04:04:41 AM »
I recently had one of my sims have a mid-life crisis - for those of you that don't know these wishes show up in red and once chosen can't be removed, and apparently once chosen, if not full-filled quickly causes negative moodlets for the sim.  (Not sure about that last part, but I think its right)

Anyway my sims wishes have so far been really easy - plan new outfit, get new hairdo or colour.  One she had which I wasn't going with was divorce her husband!
What I find strange is these wishes are really low points, like 500. I would think with the type of wish, that once its chosen can't get deleted it should start off being worth heaps of points, and go down on a daily basis.

Anyone had some other interesting mid-life crisis wishes?
We could learn a lot from crayons:
Some are sharp, some are pretty,
Some are dull, some have weird names,
And all are different colors....but
They all exist very nicely in the same box.

There is a thread about midlife crisis already.  I am going to merge this topic with the existing one.
