Inventory Problems
« on: June 04, 2011, 12:49:26 AM »
I have just installed Generations, and everything is working fine, except for one small problem. When Tunic Legacy family had just gotten home from France, with al their gems and nectar bottles, but when I tried to take the nectar bottles out, they wouldn't drag out. So then I tried "Stocking' the nectar rack. Well, the rack stocked with bottles, but the bottles where also still in Billi's inventory!
The same situation with gems and metals. They won't come out!

Of course, this might just be a simple problem I've overlooked. It wouldn't be the first time. ::)
Thanks in advance!

I've the same problem.
I tried to uninstall Generation and re-open the game but it can't help.
Now I realize playing the Sims 3 on Mac is playing the game of installation and uninstallation...

It's good to know I'm not the only one with this problem, then. :)

You should try opening the bottle/gem menu (clicking the blue triangle), take a few bottles/gems out, until only 1 remains in the inventory. Now put them all back. You should be able to drag them all out.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by this, but I'll try it.
Thanks for the help!

You know when you have many items stacked in the inventory, such as gems, they join in a single item slot, that has a little blue triangle on the top-left of the item's icon, and when you click the triangle, it opens another menu, of all the stuff in there, and if you drag the triangle you move all the stuff at the same time?

So yea, click that triangle, take out all the items you can (probably all but one) and put them somewhere else (treasure chest, fridge, another sim's inventory). When there is only one item left (the unremovable one), you drag all the other ones back. This time you should be able to move them.

I don't think that made it more undestandable, did it?

Yes, that made it more understandable, but unfortunately, none of the items are stacked, and none of them will move. But thanks for the advice, anyway. :)

Do you have Generations? You could try the Give Gift command. (Not sure if it requires Generations or it just came with the patch...)

The problem started with Generations, but I will try "Give Gift" interaction, and see how it goes. :)

Many people have been having stuck inventory problems since generations and the patch came out, including me. For some people it's been fixed with a quick trip overseas, you may want to try another brief vacation.

Naga, have you test your solution on your own sims when they get stuck? Because it didn't seem to help me. Or I'm just an unlucky exception.

You mean the blue triangle thing? Yea, it worked when my sim had some flame fruit stuck in his inventory, and also when some heart-shaped pink diamonds and palladium bars got stuck in a treasure chest.

I haven't ever tested the Give Gift interaction as an inventory-unstucker, though.

My sister and I have the same problem.  Unfortunately, if you have a collector, nothing can be moved from the inventory, not even to get cut or sold.  So if someone has a collector, then that game is pretty much shot.  This all started with Generations.  If you start a new sim, then it works fine, so I guess all of these things happen with old saved games before the game came out, which is pretty poor in my opinion.  So uninstalling the game is not the answer and EA obviously doesn't have a fix either. :(

Maybe marrying an old created dynasty or legacy sim into your new household would help. At least, that's what I'm trying to do.

I have already tried that and everything else.  Old saved games inventories are shot.  I just went into my dynasty and the founders inventory is now doing the same thing as esther's is, by flashing.  I had my sim plant the seeds in his inventory, hoping that would help.  My dynasty is basically trash now, over a year of hard work and all for nothing.
