I don't know, I think this might actually be one of those upgraded things to an old EP. I have noticed between Sims 2 and Sims 3, things will always be rehashed, but upgraded, never simply rehashed. This is the first time EA took an expansion pack of the same name, but I really don't think there's any other name you could come up with other than Pets. I really am not bothered by the rehashing and keeping the Pets name because it's a plain and simple concept. The unicorn, and the being able to control pets, and give them their own personalities, is a huge plus in my opinion. As a real life pet person, I think Pets in real life have their own unique personalities, and I'm happy EA decided to take an old popular EP and take it up to the next level. People have been giving their hate speeches and rudely demanding for pets since the beginning of time, (not here obviously, but on the official Sims 3 forum, and Facebook). Being able to adopt pets and take them in is an even bigger upgrade as well.
Overall, I'm fully on board with Sims 3 Pets, as Sims 2 Pets was my favorite Sims game of all time, and with the upgrade of being able to control the pets, instead of making cats simply for show, that makes Pets even better. EA even let us pick out the names of the statues, which means EA is putting us (the fans) into consideration. People are always going to complain to EA about something, because the game is very unstable as is, and people just have nothing better to do but complain, however, I'm simply happy with the Sims 3 upgrades EA is giving us with Pets.
From the looks of the trailer, I'm excited to see that cats are able to lay on their backs (the "Lazy" cat, is a spitting image of my adopted son), because that means in real life, a sign of trust. Pets are actually bonding with their owners, too, and treated like part of the family, not just decoration. Fingers crossed EA is fully taking their time on Beta testing, before actually releasing it. The unicorn simply looks amazing.
