I agree! Even though my initial impression of Pets was "same ole TS2 annoyance", I now think that it will be really fun to control and, moreover, write from the point of view of the pet!

I've seen you make similar comments about other new Sims 3 additions... that you think it will be the same as something from Sims 2.  So, I'm curious now.  Have the Sims 3 additions actually turned out like the Sims 2 things as you once feared?  Or do you find them to be different and unique in their own way once you get to experience them?

Yes, that's correct. I'm guilty of always judging new additions by TS2/TS1 standards. They definitely turned out to be nothing like the TS2 versions, unique in their own way, yes. You'd think EA would not risk and add some improvements only to the TS2 base version and introduce it to the public, but actually the TS3 versions of TS2 items are different from the very core. So yeah, I've always been proven wrong.

Some people in the EA forum is complaining about the horses. About lack of detail or whatever? Personally I think they are pretty good to be the firsts ones EA's ever made.

VampirePlasma, don't listen to the people on the official EA forum, they just like to complain and bring the mood down. I agree the horses look great. I love the young one too. EA did a really good job the pets, yet people still like to complain.
