I don't know whether the pets count against the max 8 sims, but I really hope they don't. Anyone heard anything about that?

In The Sims 2 they didn't count against the max 8, so perhaps EA is good enough to do that in TS3 again.

I don't know this for certain, but if the pets are controllable, I don't see how they can do anything but count toward the maximum 8 in a household.  How else will we control them?  I'm very curious to see how this all works out.

Well, in TS2 pets were sub-members. Like, their "avatar pic" in the sidebar to the left was attached to the Sim's who bought them (or whatever it was, can't remember). I also can't remember for the life of me if pets were in the max 8 household members or they could sum up the total count of members to more than 8. I do think Leto is correct, however.

If memory saves me well than you could in TS2 have max 8 sims in your household and max 8 pets in your household, which will definatly increase the difficulty of the game, which I personally really like. :)

But you couldn't control the pets in The Sims 2, right?  That might make the difference.  Although, it would be good if they could attach the pet to the Sim like you described, Chronic.  I haven't played the other Sims games, so I have no reference.

I think I'll be able to answer your question exactly only after I reinstall TS2: Pets. Hold on. :)

Yes, unfortuniatly you couldn't control the pets back in The Sims 2. And perhaps that will make the difference with this game. I think you can control the pet only when you select the sim that belongs to the pet. The sim who has bought it or either breed it. That's what I think.

You could use a cheat to control them. From my memory, they then had an icon-even if there was 8 sims in the household. It was just an extra icon, which started another row on the screen. I'm pretty sure you could do that with Sims too, but that was a glitch (and off-topic too :-[).

I thought that whole pet controlling thing in The Sims 2 could only be done with a mod, which was the reason I didn't bring it up here.

I am still not sure whether I am going to get pets or not.  I am going to wait a bit, I believe, to see reviews and how the game plays from other people.  There is enough glitches that came with the last EP and patch and right now, my game is playing pretty good.  I am not bad mouthing the game, but I would rather wait.  I didn't really care for pets in sims2.  I might get it somewhere down the road.  I hope it turns out to be a great EP and without the bugs and glitches that came with the others. :)

That's completely impossible in my case, as I was so young my parents completely blocked any use of internet on my computer, and I was the only one that had ever used it. :)

Yeah in Sims 2 there was another Household Members Icon, you could have 8 Sims and 8 Pets.

I pretty much going to have to pass on this one ep.  I hated Pets in sims 2 and that's with not having to control them.  I just can't see trying to take care of a couple of kids, plus pets. :P  I think my sims would probably try to crawl out of the monitor to get me. :D

With the way my games are playing, I'm pretty sure I'll be good for one more ep before my games give up the ghost.  I'm holding out for Seasons. ;D
